District B Dems, have “gone all in” on the latest political round of Texas Hold ‘Em. They delivered to City Hall a FOIA request that so broad that, well, let’s paraphrase, and then you can look at the actual document.
Please give us a copy of anything that contains the world trash in it, electronic or paper that anyone who walked through City Hall doors has received or created.
See for yourself:

The Advocate reports on the aftermath of the truck ban. Before we plunge into the truck issue, let’s review the chief story of 2008. The price of gas. In recent weeks, we’ve seen gas prices fall so now they graze right at the $4.00/gallon mark for regular unleaded. Diesel, maintains its lofty near $5.00/gallon average. I lead with this because trucks run on diesel. And truck drivers are besides themselves on the cost of fuel. So much so that all sorts of technology, tire inflation and just plain driving more slowly have been employed by shippin companies eying that bottom line. I even wrote about this earlier in the summer. So before the People’s Republic of Rowayton gets all excited about the lack of trucks in route 136, let’s take a look at how the chief purveyors of trucks in the area have been doing, from the Wall Street Journal.

Journal-Inquirer Managing Editor Chris Powell weighs in this weekend with an editorial critical of plans under consideration by the Hartford City Council to adopt a sanctuary policy like the one in place in New Haven.
Excerpt:
Forbidding police from inquiring about citizenship when it has no relevance to the investigation of crime is one thing. Giving identification documents to people who are in the country illegally, precisely to facilitate their remaining in the country illegally, and refusing to cooperate with the national government’s enforcement of immigration law are something else — subversive and treasonable.
Is there a failure of immigration policy in this country?
Should it be strengthened and better enforced, or should it be liberalized?
How much of an impact does illegal immigration have in Fairfield County?
Should local law enforcement be deputized or trained for immigration enforcement?
Are you more in tune with Danbury; or New Haven?

John Reilly’s column in today’s Hour floats this preposterous idea and it took me 10 minutes to recover from the lunacy, whose exactly is ambiguous. From the Hour:
Unless my political antenna is bent, I’d say state Rep. Bruce Morris is weighing a run against hizzoner Dick Moccia. His involvement in the trash debate over Meadow Street, while not the territory you’d expect a state rep to be involved in, gave him a forum for some exposure.
If he decides to make a run, his major support will come from Ward B, assuming he has Bobby Burgess’ blessing.

The Connecticut Post announced that it is being acquired by Hearst Corporation as part of a package of Fairfield County publications that MediaNews Group has been accumulating over the last several years. The MNG announcement describes it as an expansion of its Connecticut joint venture with Hearst.
The other properties named in the linked piece include:
* The Stamford Advocate
* The Greenwich Time
* The Danbury News-Times.
* The Darien News-Review
* Greenwich Citizen
* Fairfield Citizen-News
* New Canaan News-Review
* New Milford Spectrum
* Norwalk Citizen-News
* Westport News
Much has been made in the Connecticut blogosphere (principally from the left side of the political spectrum) about this trend, from the sale of and recent round of layoffs at the Courant to the firing of blogger and erstwhile Greenwich Advocate columnist Sarah Littman. Do you see evidence of editorial control being exercised by the media companies that own these or other publications?

Who knew the Community Garden at Fodor Farm would be subjected to, gasp, the Tomato Bandit? Apparently Fodor Farm-ers are to be on alert for a white sedan with plate XXX-FOD (they couldn’t get the first numbers of the entire license plate number.)
An alert Fodor Farm-erĀ saw a man and women (Bonnie and Clyde) picking tomatoes from several plots.
Naturally if you see a white sedan filled with tomatoes with the above license plate letters, in the vincinity of Fodor Farm, feel encouraged to contact the police.

Were it not for the District B Democrats, I would be posting more about scooters. As it is, they fulfill a necessary cog in the wheel of commenting on the news. They are like Congress is to the Daily Show. Tuesday, the Hour reported:
Ward B Democrats back off on Angels endorsement
Ward B Democrats reconsidered Monday night their endorsement of bringing the Guardian Angels to Norwalk, and instead directed the local point person for the effort to look at alternatives.

Tuesday night’s BOE meeting was not without the usual fireworks, this time centering on Corda’s relationship with Magdalia Rivas and his decision to hire Karen Lang to sit on principal reviews. Rivas apaprently has issues with Corda’s unilateral move. Rivas was also upset becuase Corda, via email, informed her that her request for some report was inappropriate.
Bobby Burgess sent an emissary to read a letter to the BOE, blasting the District D Democrats and Greg Burnett for alledging that Rivas is “friends with Jack Daniels” and referenced that her slurred speech was actually due to a topical tooth medication.

The Haviland Street parking garage repair ushers in a construction discount at the Maritime Garage. Nights after 5 PM are now a flat fee of $1. Meanwhile the construction work on the Haviland Street garage deck begins Monday morning. On Street parking shouldn’t be affected except for the increased use. Handicap spaces from the Haviland lot will be moved to reserved spaces in two privately operated lots on Washington Street, one is next to Beadworks and the other is between Gallerie SoNo and SoNo Caffeine.
That contractor working on the Haviland deck has 120 days to complete the work or face penalties.
