For those familar with the American Girl franchise, two Norwalkers are bringing history to life with a full scale mutlimedia history edutainment project. From the Advocate:
Bringing history to life for children is what the film’s producers hope to do. The film is only one aspect of a larger project they designed to create new ways of teaching history and civics to middle school students.
Funded by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Young American Heroes project will include an interactive Web site and a graphic novel.

The exhibition and sale of cityscapes, landscapes, portraits, fantasies, interiors, seascapes and still lifes will take place in the home of Mary Pugh at 9 Outer Rd. The mid-century house itself is an important work by architect Edgar Tafel, author of Apprentice to Genius: Years with Frank Lloyd Wright.

Guided tours of the Mansion’s magnificent first floor will be available.
A donation to support the work of the Norwalk Preservation Trust is requested — $50 per person or $75 per couple for nonmembers; $40 per person or $65 per couple for members. The recent articles about defunding the Rogers-Rich-Merritt House project for Mill Hill Park prompts the following questions.
The house, due to its size and not the era in which it was built, is planned to occupy the last approved building site in Mill Hill Park - what will take its place?
With summer around the corner, the hint of a great line up of concerts beckons. April has been officially declared Jazz Appreciation Month and the Norwalk Symphony lands a grant to expand its audience. First from the Hour:
“We should appreciate one of America’s home treasures — jazz came from America,” said Mayor Richard A. Moccia, before three local musicians took over. “Jazz is an original American art form that affirms the noblest aspirations of our national character.”
Moccia later read a proclamation declaring April Jazz Appreciation Month in Norwalk.
