Voter Registration Deadlines

by turfgrrl

October 7th, 2008 · 22 Comments

If you are planning to vote in this year’s elections, the last day to register by mail is Oct. 21. If you register in person, that deadline is Oct. 28.

All is not lost if you move to Norwalk after the October 28th date, just head down to the registrar’s office before November 3.

On election day provisional ballots can be obtained if you can prove you are 18, a US citizen and live in the city you intend to vote in, and then all that infor will be verified later.

How do they verify the registration information? What do they use to prove citizenship? I asked at a registrar’s workshop- and was told-
you are signing that it is true-
    big whooo-
I am quite concerned about the lack of ability to check that someone is in fact eligible to vote.
They may produce a picture ID, but that does not prove citizenship.

As per the usual, the Norwalk Dems have done nothing to register voters this year. Amazing! The records show we have no more new voters than four years ago. What’s up with that?

  • 3 Anonymous // Oct 9, 2008 at 10:39 am

It’s spelled I-N-C-O-M-P-T-E-N-C-E. And I’m a Dem voter. They’d rather waste time with partisan attacks like the garbage FOIA issue.

This is a year when the numbers should be through the roof. We can see that nothing is happening as usual.

Perhaps the pilgrims had it right- those who got to vote/make decisions were the people who had to pay for the plans… of course that would never fly.

If 40% of adults do not pay taxes, can that be right? Then who is paying for these programs?
    Me of course…

What you are describing sounds like the system of corrupt government the Pilgrims were escaping back in England. You know, the kind where an all-powerful ruler controls the working classes who live in servitude? And which dictated oppressive religious tenets administered by a corrupt church that also exercised control within the government?

Come to think of it, that doesn’t sound too much different from where this country is headed and what the Republicans want.

Maybe they’ll want to reintroduce slavery if they ever get power back after what looks to be a landslide in next month’s elections. They’re sure doing a good job of agitating racists to whip up a frenzy of hatred and bigotry based on what I’m reading about the rallies that have been taking place since the last debate.

Don’t worry #2, the waves of dead people and illegal aliens registering should be occuring any day now……………

  • 8 Anonymous // Oct 12, 2008 at 11:51 am

The only dead people voting are brain dead Republicans who support war and corruption.

  • 9 Aunt Bertha // Oct 12, 2008 at 6:22 pm

Why the constant attack on Republicans? I am a registered Dem and I am concerned about voter fraud. If you cheat to win does the victory taste as sweet? I have not decided which person to vote for yet, I do sometimes opt for the camp that is talking facts and not throwing mud.

  • 10 Anonymous // Oct 13, 2008 at 8:45 am

A registered Dem who listens to Rush and says she never tells the truth to pollsters. I am having a hard time believing your claims, Aunt Bertha.

  • 11 Aunt Bertha // Oct 13, 2008 at 10:51 am

Look back and read the posts. I did not say I lie to pollsters, I said that that was the discussion on Rush. I also read, listen and watch other sources than Rush. I am thoughtful of what I choose to believe and I am careful when I vote. Just as a side Anonymous- I have not been called by a pollster in the past 5 years. Maybe I should reregister as an independent? I don’t know. At this point I am just tired of the whole election.

    Fraud??…Corruption???…..
Let’s see what happens in Ohio when we finnaly find out the REAL story about acorn & the Felony’s they have committed by paying crackheads & drunks to register & vote democrat.

  • 13 Aunt Bertha // Oct 13, 2008 at 12:46 pm

1 of the SMD 3, what do you know to be the real story? If people can prove ACORN and any connections to candidates what is the end result for them? It is troublesome to say the least.

  • 14 Anonymous // Oct 13, 2008 at 1:21 pm

Investors Business Daily asks what Barack Obama knows about the epidemic of voter fraud in ACORN, and it’s not an unfair question. Not only has Obama publicly endorsed ACORN, he has paid them at least $800,000 for their services, an amount that he didn’t immediately disclose until pressed. ACORN has responded in kind, with their voter-registration efforts that have resulted in criminal investigations in more than a dozen states:
For starters, Obama paid ACORN, which has endorsed him for president, $800,000 to register new voters, payments his campaign failed to accurately report. (They were disguised in his FEC disclosure as payments to a front group called Citizen Services Inc. for “advance work.”)
What’s more, Obama worked as executive director of ACORN’s voter-registration arm, Project Vote, in 1992. Joined by two other community organizers on Chicago’s South Side, Obama conducted the voter-registration drive that helped elect Carol Moseley-Braun to the Senate that year.
The next year, 1993, Obama joined the civil-rights law firm Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, where he sued the state of Illinois on behalf of ACORN to implement the federal “Motor Voter” law, which the GOP governor at the time refused to do. Then-Gov. Jim Edgar argued, presciently, that the Clinton law would invite voter fraud.
Obama downplays his ties to ACORN, and his campaign denies coordinating with ACORN to register voters.

  • 15 Anonymous // Oct 13, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Why is it that everyone wants to shy away from this topic? Acorn has hit as many as 13 states so far with fraudlent voter registrations and nobody thinks it a problem? If this were connected to the Mccain camp everyone would be all over it like maggots to raw meat and yet everyone wants to brush it under the rug. What does this mean for the November election if we aren’t willing to admit that some of these so called registered voters are either dead, under age, convicted fellons, The Dallas Cowboys suddenly moving to Nevada etc.? I vote for the person and not the party but I am afraid my vote just won’t count this year because of the widespread fraudulent activities being discovered. When is someone going to shut these people down? Are we to believe that its ok to have no control over who is elected anymore/

More diversive and divisive tactics from a desperate McCain campaign. Won’t amount to anything. Republicans will do anything they need to, to keep the disenfranchised from registering.

This is just another Swift Boat attempt to say, “Hey, what’s that over there?” instead of dealing with the issues.

especially since John McCain was the headline speaker at an Immigration rally a few years ago in Miami sponsored by none other than ACORN
