From a press release:

Norwalk RTC nominates candidates, challenges State Rep. Morris to forgo Public Financing

In a convention held tonight at the Norwalk Inn, Norwalk Republicans Nominated the following candidates:
Karen Doyle Lyons for Registrar of Voters
Ellen Wink for State Rep. 137th district
State Rep. Larry Cafero Jr for Re-election to his seat in the 142nd District
No Republican candidate was put forth to run in the 140th district against
Rev. Bruce Morris.
“It seems that these hard economic times are even having an
impact on our ability to field candidates as the Town
Committee was not able to find a person who could commit
the time and resources needed to run a competitive race in
the 140th District,” states RTC Chairman Art Scialabba
“Even though we didn’t field a Republican challenger for the
140th race, we have another challenge for State
Representative Morris that we hope he accepts.
We challenge Rev. Morris to pledge to forgo public financing
for his re-election campaign. Public funds should not be
sought as they are not needed in an uncontested race.
Taxpayers should not have to have money spent on self
promotion and image management for a candidate without an
opponent.
We look forward to Rev. Morris accepting this challenge.”

Of course Rev. Morris will accept the challenge. How can he possibly get 150 people to contribute to his campaign if he’s not running against anybody? What happens to the public funds earmarked for campaign financing if a candidate doesn’t claim the money?

Wish someone was running against him! he’s worthless and does absolutely nothing for his constituents in district b. He wants to keep them where they are so he can rule the masses. If he cared one bit about the people in district b he would be encouraging the young kids to stay away from gangs and get themselves into a better place but instead he reminds them on a daily basis that they are a product of prejudice and the white folk won’t let them out. he’s the one not letting them out. What a shame! Check his per bill voting record in hartford before you send him back. Another thing, exactly where does he live. What is a physical address for him? Anyone want to challenge that one? The law says your voting place is where you sleep. The district you represent is where you sleep.

That’s a pretty poor challenge from the Republicans per Morris. They just don’t want to encourage voter turnout of the African Americans like they did with the Mayor’s race. Too bad it worked.

Someone should tell Bruce Morris that more than Afro Americans live in District B. He is such a racist that he thinks everything is about him. Someone needs to tell him he is doing a huge disservice to his own people. I sure hope someone challenges him come November and then lets see how well he does! Besides his rediculous comment about a poor challenge he may want to think about the fact that he is a pretty poor representative od District B.

The Democratic Town Committee should tell Bruce Morris that he isn’t representing Democratic Values! But, they are too busy bickering with the mayor and themselves.

In this mornings Stamford Advocate there was a headline front page story on how the founder of the Guardian Angles Curtis Sliwa was coming to meet with Norwalker’s tonight. The article was in-depth and quite well written with input both pro and con, from residents and the Norwalk Chief of Police. It pretty much explained the situation that would be faced at the meeting this evening in Norwalk. NOW GUESS WHAT WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE HOUR? A large picture of the mayor dedicating a BICYCLE RACK (yes you read it right) A BICYCLE RACK, at the East Norwalk train station. How can the Hour not even mention in a tiny back page article about something this important to the citizens of Norwalk? I had heard that the Hour was a political arm of the Administration, but never wanted to believe it, this proved it to me with out a doubt. The editor and publisher of the Hour should both be embarrassed to even call the Hour a NEWS paper. Using the Hour’s method of showing who was good and who was bad; THE STAMFORD ADVOCATE GETS A BOUQUET OF FLOWERS AND THE HOUR GETS A BRICK.

Oh yes, our congratulations to councilman At Large Mr. Michael Geake, this gentleman has potential to become the mayor, in the not to distant future.

Your light of truth in the darkness

Before some of you wet your pants over my typo in the headline it should be BOUQUET as in the article. The Hour should have my Typo in headlines on the front page in tomorrows edition.

Brickbat for the Hour - I like it!!!!

  • 9 Anonymous // May 22, 2008 at 10:48 am

Geake for Mayor and the gardian angles for deputy mayor. No way.

Duff and Perone just don’t get it our troubles are now beyond their grasp as well great photo op did they run out of ribbon?

You go James The Hour with you at the helm is starting to show you are also out of touch with the city you once wrote about but never objectively. Its hard to write PROMOJO and cover Norwalks news isn’t it.

More on Ellen Wink please she may be the new blood we need.Ellen learn from the mistakes of others think about quality of life thats what got some council members elected last time.

Rep Morris where have you been? The city of Norwalk is calling for your help can you make yourself visible?

  • 11 Anonymous // May 22, 2008 at 1:15 pm

Others who have run for the 137th have had great vision on the quality of life for Norwalk but have not won because this seat has been held by the dems for so long that the concensus is why bother because the republicans won’t win anyway. Hopefully the RTC will come out full forse and help Ellen, unlike they have done with former candidates. We’ve lost some great leadership because of the mindset of the parties. You won’t see morris any time soon, he doesn’t have an opponent so he doesn’t have to prove himself. When are the dems going to find someone that ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THE DISTRICT?

  • 12 Anonymous // May 22, 2008 at 2:29 pm

Thats the reason we are not seeing a an opponent for District B
