Pick Your Own Party Animal

rolling stonesTired of the same old donkey and elephant political party symbol? Then pick another animal. Or ice cream flavor. Good design meets “I can’t get no satisfaction,” which reminds me that the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium IMAX theater is running the Scorsese Rolling Stones concert movie.

I kinda like the penguin, it’s that whole open source thing, but jelly fish just looks cool.

This is too good. I would like to suggest for the Republican Party: the snake, because of the corruption that infests it; the pig, because it managed to take a budget surplus and turn it into a record deficit; the parrot, for rubber-stamping everything Jr. wants; the chicken; for the cowards who prey on America’s fears of terrorism and use that to undermine our civil liberties; the shark, for preying on the underclasses by giving tax breaks to the rich and corporate fat cats, and finally, the amoeba, because it doesn’t have any intelligence beyond the need to reproduce itself.

My My, let me guess, you are a democrat with blinders! Like the democratic party is so wonderful? I was looking for a weasel for the D’s because of the way they all voted for this stupid war and when it became unpopular they all tried to weasel their way out of the blame game. They seem to weasel their way out of alot of things and put the blame on others more times than not. If this weren’t true Ted Kennedy would be in jail for all that he has done over the years. But you all keep voting him back in office because he represents the midset of most of you. I don’t think there are too many that are happy with Jr. on either side of the aisle but you can’t point fingers at all the Republicans either. Give us a break, there is corruption, rubber stamping and cowards in both parties.

but stil #1 postings is one of the best I’ve ever read who cares if it is slanted its still true and comical.

  • 4 Andrew // Apr 9, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Turfie, I’ve actually thought long and hard about this one. I cant decide between the Jellyfish or the tarantula. Either way, nobody will bother me.

  • 5 Anonymous // Apr 9, 2008 at 2:30 pm

I think the tarantula or scorpion is a great one for the D’s, they prey on unsuspecting victims and poison them against reality and leaves them to wonder if they will survive. Just look at the 6% tax hike the CT dems proposed on products delivered within the state to private homes and businesses. Democrats have been in control of taxation policies for the last 22 years and we are suffering for it with lost jobs, less earning power and families moving out of Connecticut.

  • 6 Anonymous // Apr 9, 2008 at 2:55 pm

Dems are like Robins from the Hood they know how to give back to the people and not spend it on themselves and call it a windfall.

  • 7 Anonymous // Apr 9, 2008 at 3:24 pm

Yeah right! Thats why they prey on the minorities and middle to lower class citizens and promise them everything and give them nothing just to get their vote. Tell me what they’ve given back to the people. You act as if everyone on this blog is rich and stupid. Many live pay check to paycheck and within their means and as far as I know haven’t gotten any great deals from the dems. The rich are too smart to fall for the BS the dems dish out. I would say more like Robins Hoods, pressure the poor and leave them to fend for themselves.

  • 8 Aunt Bertha // Apr 9, 2008 at 5:43 pm

I like the Moose. A big animal that can take and give a good head butt.

  • 9 Anonymous // Apr 9, 2008 at 7:34 pm

#7 your describing the last mayors race in Norwalk. Just ask the firefighters union how they were taken for that ride you think Dem’s do so well.We all live paycheck to paycheck and those are starting to dry up fast.No one on this blog is stupid the powers to be are using it to put out fires and its not any one party thats doing it anymore. The pressure on the poor is seldom talked about or even addressed in Norwalk any more is it.

The homeless shelter is still looking for donations and the local food pantries are still wondering when the farmers market is coming back. Some of the mothers that used state coupons with the vendors at the market miss that outlet as well. Who cares who makes it all happen as long as its soon. The conveniance of the market at the Aquarium was for others who don’t have a paycheck and couldn’t afford transportation.

  • 10 anonymous // Apr 9, 2008 at 10:17 pm

I vote for butterfly and toucan. Let’s just get along. Though maybe cat and dog would be more appropriate because there are lots of dog and cat lovers, but most people lean one way or the other.

  • 11 Norwalker // Apr 9, 2008 at 10:20 pm

Aunt Bertha, make that the bull moose like TR’s new party.

  • 12 Anonymous // Apr 10, 2008 at 4:48 am

I can justify any any mascot animal for Republicans. I can justify only an animal’s excrement to symolize Democrats.

  • 13 anon // Apr 10, 2008 at 11:09 am

NOW # 3…. Anonymous post # 12 IS one of the best I’ve ever read who cares if it is slanted its still true and comical.

  • 14 dabardi // Apr 10, 2008 at 2:02 pm

Well-I vote that #1 and #12 are the funniest and most thoughtful answers. If you take the jellyfish off the page and look at it, it will look like a flying saucer (spaceship) taking off not a jellyfish so that one does not work for me. Visually, the snake and the beaver are cool designs. I don’t have enough scarcasm oozing through my brain right now to designate who is who.

  • 15 turfgrrl // Apr 11, 2008 at 8:00 am

people, you can create your own party, neither fish nor fowl, er, Republican or Democrat. Are we do conditioned to the binary coke or pepsi that we are losing our ability to create snapple?

So what kind of party would you create?

  • 16 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 8:51 am

I would propose the Pinocchio Party. The only candidates allowed to run would have the benefit of being both a puppet of those who elect them and the moment they started lying, everyone would know.

  • 17 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 2:43 pm

I think a jack ass for both parties would be best and most fitting. Dont call it a donkey it’s a jack ass. #7 I’m tired of tpeople wanting hand outs in Norwalk if you cant afford to live here move on I work extra to make ends meat and I dont want to have to help pay your share. I want to live in Darien but no one wants to help me so I live in Norwalk.

  • 18 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:19 pm

Hey, whatsa matta? You gotta work two jobs? Too frickin bad! Get an MBA! That way you can go live in Darien. Once you get there you’ll find out nobody wants to associate with you when they find out you moved there from Norwalk.

What’s that? Can’t afford to go to colletch? Maybe you can get a scholarship… oops, never mind. That would be a hand out.

  • 19 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:32 pm

Based on your spelling # 18 you never went to high school, collecth are you for real. Corda Norwalk schools are doing a great job teaching reading and writing. God help us all.

  • 20 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:48 pm

Nope. It’s “colletch”. Intentionally misspelled in a satirical manner to point out that your previous post reeks of ignorance.

  • 21 anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:48 pm

That’s the beautiful thing about America. You can move to where you can afford to live a better life.

  • 22 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:50 pm

Oh, yeah. It’s “people”, not “tpeople”, “meet”, not “meat”. If you don’t want to sound like a jackass learn how to spell properly.

  • 23 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 4:00 pm

#17 I seriously would talk to the mayor once your down and out you can count on getting kicked in the face when going that route.

#16 most of our politicians don’t lie they fabricate the truth and don’t run for office they run from the voter once elected.

  • 24 anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Remember when people would work 2 or 3 jobs, and live with extended families and pass clothing down rather than suffer the shame and humiliation of living off public assistance. Now we have generations of families who think nothing of living in public housing while driving Acuras and wearing $200 sneakers

  • 25 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 5:01 pm

yes i do, now we pass flak jackets down and collect the brass shell casings instead of beer cans.

  • 26 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 5:13 pm

I was curious to see how our tax dollars are spent given all the recent posts about government handouts (don’t forget that coupon for the digital converter box you’ll need next year when all TVs have to go HD) and affordable housing.

So I found a source that shows how my tax dollar is spent. Let’s say I had a really good year and ended up paying $20,000 in Federal income tax.

    Of that $20,000:

$8,400 goes to Past and Current Military
    $4,400 goes to Health
$2,000 goes to Interest on Non-Military Debt
    $1,800 goes to Anti-Poverty Programs
$800 goes to Education, Training & Social Services
$800 goes to Government & Law Enforcement
$600 goes to Housing & Community Development
$600 goes to Environment, Energy & Science
$400 goes to Agriculture, Commerce and Transportation
    $200 goes to International Relations

I’d say more people should have their panties in a bunch over military spending given the breakdown. Shameful. Just goes to show how much the “military -industrial complex” has taken over the government.

For those of you right-wing trolls who think that notion is a liberal one, it was President Dwight Eisenhower, a Republican, who warned of it in his 1961 farewell address to the nation.

  • 27 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 5:14 pm

Oops. Forgot to cite my sources. Wouldn’t want to be accused of misrepresenting the facts. http://www.nationalpriorities.org/taxchart2008

  • 28 anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 5:33 pm

I’d rather give it to the military to protect out country than to feed and clothe freeloaders. Cut where you can, and the deadwood is where you cut.

  • 29 anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 5:36 pm

Want to make Norwalk a safer city, push for a phase out of public housing.

  • 30 Anonymous // Apr 11, 2008 at 6:19 pm

    I like #24 and #29.
