Sad news today. A really great lady “Bea” Brown has died. She gave her all to the City of Norwalk. She will be missed by all Dems & Reps alike.

Whether you agreed with Bea all of the time or half of the time or none of the time, this was a truly dedicated women to the city of Norwalk. Having sat in many a meeting with her I for one can say she was an icon in Norwalk that will not only be missed by the minority community but by the city as a whole. She worked tirlessly for the rights of others and never backed away from a cause. Hopefully there are those out there that have her dedication to right and wrong and will continue on in her footsteps. Also, Bea wanted everyone to know the dibilitating disease of diabetes is nothing to ignore. Get out and get tested and for those who already have been diagnosed with diabetes, do something positive for yourself. Follow the prescribed methods and follow a healthy diet. Diabetes is a horrible disease that affects people of all ages and knows no color.

I am sorry to learn of her passing. I may not have always agreed with what she stood for, but I always respected her. She was sincere and honest and fought for her convictions. Can’t ask for anything more.

My prayers go to the entire Brown and Tatum family. Ms. Mary “Bea” Brown was a pioneer for civil rights as far as I can remember. From the early 60’s Roodner Court days with Barbara Askew, Gertrude McFadden among others, she attended countless meetings being an activist for community change throughout South Norwalk, being a co-founder of NEON and other affirmative action initiatives, helping to make school intergration in Norwalk a reality. May we remember all that she stood for and brought to our many communities.
    God Bless you Aunt Bea.

It was nice reading Moccia’s take on the youth crime problem in the Local Matters. Its all about the parents and its in other cities and towns. Greg Reilly you have done what others could not do interveiw Dick and give us direction to our problems now that we know who is at fault. The rest of the article was valuable in learning what we can do and whats avaialable to our city to correct our Youth Crime.

The other article choosing hospitals Stamford or Norwalk was also eye opening to those who may need emergency care asap.It must of been an oversight to leave out St Vincents hospital in Bridgport being ranked #1 in Fairfeild county and top 10% percent in the nation for cardiac care including agioplasty and open heart sugery.

This local matters has store price of $1.00 I imagine while supply lasts this will be a valuable item for our local county residents.

Ok Sean and Anon, I removed some of the more personal attacks here. Can we try to keep this from degrading any further?

    The Management.
