Things look to be a tad more interesting on the State Senate Transportation Committee these days. The Hour reports;
The cause for a Super 7 highway found more prominent footing in a local lawmaker who will become vice chairman of the General Assembly’s transportation committee.
State Sen. Robert Duff, D-25, majority whip, announced the news Thursday he will head the committee but downplayed that particular cause — though his affection for it is well known — and said he would focus on statewide transportation issues.
“We need to address the issues that we currently face, including congestion and safety on our roadways, public transportation development and infrastructure improvement,” Duff said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the committee to help address these needs.”
After Duff secured funding to study the feasibility of Super 7 last year, Boucher said then that she hoped “Duff wasn’t expecting to get support from Wilton on any of his personal projects.”
On Thursday, Boucher seemed willing to work with Duff for the sake of public transportation.
“I hope that he concentrates on those mass transit issues that are very important,” she said.
Now maybe we will get more story lines along the Upstate Downstate Masterpiece Theater presents variety. And I hope that Duff plans to support the splitting of the DOT deathstar.
