Commentary is behind schedule, but today’s music ode is operatic, which could also describe all the things that are going on in Norwalk.

people who say my city should think maybe you have lost your city and we need someone to take it back. The problem most see is the ones who are in charge lost it now maybe we will see some real leaders take a new stand on what their city should become and not what it is now .
a ship full of fools
not all just the ones that keep saying we are fine we just need to lose some bloggers.

#1 I don’t think we really need to “take back” our city. We just need to impress upon our elected officials to stop giving it away (to developers and other people who just aren’t doing their job).
Every two years we get an opportunity to change direction. Most of the time it is a pitiful few who let their voices be heard. Most voters (at least here in Norwalk) would rather sit on the sidelines and complain about things. That leads to people being in charge of things that probably shouldn’t be there(everything from chairing a political party to elected officials). We all have our favorite candidates for that, but I won’t name a bunch of potential names (unless provoked…lol)
To put it another way, if we have a “ship of fools” as you put it, it is because we have collectively allowed it to happen. Pogo said once “we have met the enemy and it is us.”
Let us redirect our efforts to try and empower more of our citizens to take a slightly more active role in our city’s future. We are all better off when we cast votes, not stones.

Good idea! Maybe if people get more involved we will have les to B@#ch about and this blog will become a productive tool instead of us always having to point out the obvious so our elected officials will take the bate.

02/01/08) NORWALK - A Bridgeport man pleaded guilty Friday to dismembering a Stratford man with an ax, then stuffing his body into a metal barrel last summer.
The body of 34-year-old Charles Gerber was found in a barrel floating in the Pequonnock River in July 2007. According to police, Gerber’s head, hands and feet had been cut off. Felix Rivera, 23, pleaded guilty to the crime of illegally disposing of a body.
Rivera told police he and Gerber were celebrating their release from prison for previous crimes by doing drugs. Rivera said Gerber turned blue and stopped breathing so he chopped him up and put the parts in a barrel.
A state’s attorney is reportedly recommending Rivera serve a three-and-a-half year prison term when he’s sentenced in March.

You get more time for kicking a dog, then again this is a case of thinning the herd so what would you expect from our courts a thankyou?
If all Rogers gets in Stamford court is a ride home to the murders he is facing it won’t surprise some of us.

Bridgeport Democratic Mayor Bill Finch and Norwalk Republican Mayor Richard Moccia today announced the formation of the Connecticut Urban Mayor’s Caucus, a bi-partisan coalition created to advocate for policies and programs to meet the needs of Connecticut’s largest cities and their citizens. Joining Bridgeport and Norwalk in this effort are Mayor Eddie Perez of Hartford, Mayor John DeStefano of New Haven, Mayor Kevin Cavanaugh of New London, and Mayor Dan Malloy of Stamford. The first meeting of the Urban Mayor’s Caucus was held this Wednesday morning at 9:30am, January 30th in Bridgeport City Hall Annex. This unique coalition will focus its efforts on making property tax relief the keystone of any stimulus package.
Too bad Dick never got anything off the ground here in Norwalk I wish him luck.

Richard Moccia of Norwalk is a Republican, and he is apparently the co-chair. I’m wondering why smaller cities like New Britain, Danbury, Middletown, Meriden, Manchester and Torrington weren’t invited
this was what others wondered

sorry but with a police web site that needs updating Turfgrrl I thought you wouldn’t mind if I posted your own words from april 22 of last year.
Anonymous 24: There is much room for improvement in making the Norwalk city government information accessible and accurate. Keeping the web site up to date, in 2007, is one of them. But I’m biased about stuff like this since I build web sites, and know how trivial it is to keep a web site
updated.http://www.norwalkpd.com/wanted.htm
as you can see the police dept has asked for the residents help in catching a suspect. The Hour ran the picture on the front page channel 12 has had it on as well. The Norwalk police site is still down any ideas how any one of can help the Police dept?

The man was bleeding from the head but refused medical attention at the scene, Norwalk police Lt. Paul Resnick said
according to a police officer it was a handgun like what was used a few night before on an armed robbery at lincoln and day st not a BB gun.
