Despite the morning be news filled, and some juicy tid-bits coming out of the Building and Land Use Committee last night, this morning we start with an open thread, because, well, there just is 24 hours in a day and I keep stuffing my allotment with other activities. So more later, have fun in the comments.

If I understand Norwalk Hosp`s Objection to the Stamford facility correctly (from whats in the paper) The Norwalk Hosp. made an application to the State to perform specialized services Not being performed there currently, and were denied. This is not the case with THIS application. The decision to deny Norwalk Hosp. is between the STATE and the Hosp. and I don`t see how or why zoning or even the common council should be involved in that aspect. The proposed use for that property is a clean and environmentally safe application and would bring jobs to Norwalk. Norwalk Hosp. has held a MONOPOLY in the health care field in Norwalk since it`s inception. Stamford has 2 Hosp,Bridgeport does too. Dispite competition, they are all alive and well and the level of patient care continues to climb upward. We have many people here currently seeing Stamford doctors with NO plans to switch so perhaps it might make their lives a bit easier to be able to access a few of their Stamford based doctors percribed treatments here (especially senior citizens). It`s the wave of the future to “bring servicices where people live”. The Norwalk Hosp. should be thinking with the times and also bring their services to other towns as well i.e. Ridgefield, Georgetown. The objection to bring more patient care or patient choice to Norwalk is shameful, an embarassment and a disgrace ! Mr. Zullo should be ashamed of himself for trying to use the zoning commisssion to satisfy his clients position. Perhaps McDaoalds should have hired him years ago to block out Burger King and Wendys

I was kind of shocked this morning when I saw 10 foreclosure/auction notices in the Hour. You read about the national problems in the housing/sub prime loan market, but you never realize how it affects us all.

the hosital saga, oh such insight. where did i not read if you are a Blue Cross Blue shield card carrier you could of gone to the stamford hosp gym in Norwalk use the pool and used things Norwalk is trying to invent at Vets park. yes this city is classic most of us use St Vincents or Yale anyway so what if Stamford has a footprint here just goes to show planning anything to help the residents out is shot down if the powers to be have interest in it.
Has anyone called Stamford did anyone ask Dave Smith 276 7510 if the hospital would help finding area for a park? Now that would of been classic coming up the other night. thinking you can bend Norwalk hopsital over and get a park if we play ball is another mistake some of our city officials just don’t realize looks bad for us and does no good for the ones wanting and needing a park.
It never ends does it the conspiracy factor can be included into everything our city does when most do not trust the city. Why is it we have so much interest in small groups taking over their area of the city they too want their interest protected they realize we have very little hard core planning going into anything anymore just read the papers and when you do read a feel good article on the city think is smoke being blown up my a@@ one more time?

What did you just say #3? Are you saying that Norwalk Hospital promised a park if the city denied Stamford Hospital’s application? To whom? What’s your evidence? You must learn to read what you wrote, and edit, before you send. This is getting annoying. At least when you identified yourself as Mr. Greenpeace we could have skipped over it. I am not discounting your contribution, but you cannot get your point across when it is unreadable. Slow down, take a breath, and use full sentences. Even if your point is irrational, at least we can be amused.

This is funny anyone could be mista G, just write like your on speed. and use the ,, or the
and it works. I think they are giving this poster way too much credit. Irrational yes at times but his crosswalk post was funny. -
On the front page of today’s Hour is the very enlightening story about the stabbing “victim” and the fact that he had a .380 pistol concealed in his underwear. We also now know that he was associated with a group of young punks that have terrorized residents of a South Norwalk housing project. Not quite the “innocent youth” having a good time at a “house party” that was previously portrayed to the general public. The quote from an anonymous police officer; “The fact that he’s dead makes the city safer”, I would wager is being repeated by a fair number of Norwalk citizens at this very moment. Every law abiding, tax paying resident of this city has at one time or another seen our young people roaming the streets during school hours or very late at night and have said to themselves, “These kids don’t look like there on their way to church”. The all seem to have the now traditional costumes consisting of baggy jeans down barely covering their rear ends (if they really knew what the original meaning of wearing your pant like that meant) the 4X/ long T-shirt (I guess to conceal a varied array of weapons, or an occasional exposed butt crack), and the now famous “hoodie” sweatshirt worn in summer and winter (which conveniently hides one’s face). It was not too long ago that I remember this style of dress being the signature dress of an inner city crack dealer, but I guess the rap groups have successfully made this “look” the norm for the under 25 crowd. If the parents of these “youths” don’t step up to the plate and start to take back control of their kids, then the possibility of Mayor Moccia’s curfew will indeed become a reality, and rightfully so.

Its odd how everyone can have a tale from the streets out here. I have to once again focus on Rillings and the mayor. What was not said in the defense of the parents how many police calls and DCF workers are called in all the time to take care of youths that are out of control. These calls are from the parents that have been assaulted by their own children. Once again you will find the number of assists to parents by the police and dcf is a large amount of the calls in the city. How did the mayor and the chief forget to tell the public about this? Too bad it hasn’t made the news in print where it is fact.
This once again makes me wonder if some of the comments would change a little and give some parents some credit. I realize it would prove some things that are said by the mayor less credible.
memory loss seems to be a problem they are old and tired just like their policies yes come out and tell me I’m wrong maybe there will be another article detailing such facts they usually take a couple of days so ones nose can be rubbed in it.This is not meant by all postings I do agree most of what #6 has said so elimanate the thought I attacked the last posting.
