hey the mayor make a debut in the THE Hour defending the police dogs too bad he didn’t come out of his hole and defend the elederly and kids in South Norwalk all over the city for whats its worth ,where all the guns and drugs are. the man is shallow but I guess you simply have to read his letter to Riley.
Never said anything about the holiday or xmas or the kids or the situation on the street. Nothing about the homeless or the last week of voilence with guns, Hes not a role model I can at least say that.He should of taken some interest in the socail ills or hasn’t anyone told him before the holidays so he can go have a great one.
Fire dept must feel good they get the shaft and the police get more of the rainbow, nice work mayor.
snow removal? you can find sand with salt but not on the streets, what a joke. The joke is on us.

we spend all our resources on keeping trucks trucks out of Rowyaton but you would think we as a city could spend the time and money for some signs telling the truck drivers what the height of bridges are.
last week alone last month alone there has been what 12 incidents of trucks and busses hitting bridges.
Today metro north had the washington bridge hit yesterday a truck needed assistance backing up on s main street before he hit one and the poor bastards on the street working to maintain peace are asking what is the height of the bridges so they can tell the trucks which way to go as it was today for a truck driver. The routes are poorly marked and the plows have ripped down signs and not fixed them.
My street had mailboxes knowcked down today and the highway was back fixing them today, anyone have any idea how much damage was done by the dpw so far this season?
how many cars have they hit?
I do but why tell everything we have more space on this thread.
Oh did I mention we don’t have the insight as a city to make a sign at fort point to let everyone know what the height of the bridge is there. Yes the painted picture who cares we have the manpower so the police dept can chase trucks away from the bridges and back them up a 1/4 mile to reroute them while we have legitimate calls needing a police officer.
Why put up signs that would make us look like we know as a city we know what we are doing, thats right up there with crosswalks made from a spray paint can from residents.
Doesn’t the DPW have a sign maker or is did they give that to the police dept like the bobcat to letter their cruisers.
oh ya merry xmas Norwalk.

Hey, she cursed dogs. Remember DOG is GOD spelled backwards (coincidence ?) This woman has a problem and it ain’t K9 dogs.

Yeah, and Santa spells Satan if you rearrange the last three letters… tell me that’s a coincidence.

Just fell on the wall street bridge tonight-sidewalk was solid ice. This is not a state highway bridge, this is a city bridge. Where is DPW? What the hell is going on in this city? What are we paying for? Thank God i wasn’t hurt-I would have had a great lawsuit against the city.
I am mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore! -
tonight according to the emt’s down town sono needs its own police dept, some of the regulars can’t even have a fist fight without falling on the ice, sounds like the BBB should talk to their guy Dick and get the sand out for the business’s that re elected the mayor.
the hell with the wall st bridge the election is over my friend.
but then again where is the dpw? fixing mailboxes they knocked down all day?
The owner of one of the boxes said when the DPW was accused the first thing they say was did anyone see a dpw truck, the answer is come look at the large tire tracks in the residential area case was close , they showed up and fixed it.
just another day in the city of Norwalk where everyone wants to move. We are on the move .

The idiots in charge blame the truck drivers for hitting bridges. Every truck driver loves to plow their rig into a bridge. I got into a heated debate with two political assholes proposing steeper fines to send a message to the trucking companies not to plow their rigs into bridges. I see RVs driving down the parkways. Truck drivers are tired and overworked. Bigger and more signs to is much smarter solution than fines and bridge repair and insurance which who do you think pays for it in the end. We do.

NORWALK — A new Norwalk High Marching Bears’ storage building, as well as restroom/storage facility for Andrews Field, could arise out the ashes of last August’s fire by the end of next summer.
so as it stands
Tonight, the Common Council’s Land Use & Building Management Committee is scheduled to review architectural design proposals for reconstructing the Andrews Field restroom/storage facility and a new band storage building
they have to make sure (the new building) is more secure and hopefully more fire-proof. (The old building) had a couple of break-ins, and the fire, it was just a plain wood building — anything that deters somebody from trying to do this again.”it would be nice no matter what is built fire proof or not it has a friggin alarm, havn’t we learned anything from this? i love how the facts are told by our politicians.
wake up council its your turn to bat, learn from our mistakes and make it better, and I don’t mean the mistakes.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so there isn’t any confusion I support the council and the Bears.

your lucky you only found two must of been a slow day or they all were watching the last truck that hit the washington bridge yesterday back up and get into a second accident by hitting a car , suppose signs would of taken away the free entertainment.
never ends does it?
fort point bridge has no height sign, any taggers out there capable of handling a tape measure?

sorry Mike this stuff is too good to waste on
complaints can be called into the city customer service center at 203-854-3200 or emailed to customerservice@norwalkct.org
or
submitted these suggestions to http://www.norwalkct.org/feedback/feedback.htm ? For things in your neighborhood, have you requested that they be added to the “City Scan” list of projects ( http://www.norwalkct.org/CityScan/index.htm )?
this way I may win the next pool on when the next truck will hit a Norwalk bridge.
washington st bridge is favored 2 to 1 in case anyone wants to know.

We cleared our sidewalk (actually a school footpath) of snow and ice only to have the DPW pile up snow and ice on the corner so no one can get through anyway, forcing students to walk in the street. School footpaths are supposed to be maintained by the City, but I have yet to see anyone from the DPW out there clearing any of them around NHS. I have no way of removing a four foot high mass of ice, so I guess we have to wait for the big melt.

Re post #4
Now you are being silly.

Re post #10 “Washington St bridge is favored 2 to 1 in case anyone wants to know.”
WRONG, the bridge at the bottom of Strawberry Hill at Winfield street will be hit at least twice before the Washington St bridge. It is the bridge where the shopping cart guys hang around to pick up the aluminum scrap this is ripped off the top of the trucks that hit there on a regular basis. Bet if you go there right now you can find scrap metal, plastic and plenty of screws, nuts and bolts. Take a close look at that bridge, it looks like it was in downtown Baghdad during the Shock and Awe attack. PS, and it gets 1/10 the traffic of the WSB.
-
I can’t argue with #1 of the #25 you certainly point out on going problems that don’t seem to be going away in the real near future.
Wait till there is a haz mat situation at rush hour and one of the bridges is a concern.
anybody else understand whats going on?
heres a news flash one of school workers fell this morning on the ice, wonder who we can blame this one one?
How about Knopp or Briggs that seemed to work during the elections.

Every winter Washington and So.-No. Main Streets are a disgusting mess of piled-up snow and ice. I realize that there is parking during the night which makes snow removal difficult, but what ever happened to a man and his shovel? Even if one is able to find a parking space on the streets, getting out of your car and on to the sidewalk is unbelieveably hazardous. And especially during this season the shops and restaurants are limited to only the most hardy Christmas shoppers and revellers, and they are economically impacted. I wish I would hear more complaints from them. I wanted to eat dinner out one evening this week and decided against it due to the dangerous night ice.

The sign on 7 north to get to the Merritt southbound says “15″, and no mention of Merritt Parkway. Why? Nobody I know calls the merritt “15″. It makes it look like just another highway, and the confusion of truckers is
understandable. Could somebody from DOT tell me why the Merritt Parkway is not labelled that on a major connecting interchange? -
Here’s a positve for DPW. Because cars were parked on one side of our street, DPW did not plow that side. It turned to ice. We (or rather AAA) extracted our cars from the deep freeze as did many of the neighbors and I sent an email to customer service (phone went nowhere). Flagged down the driver of the plow next day. Driver reluctant to plow because he said people complain when it leaves chunks of ice. But we convinced him that chunks of ice were better than icy street. Result: he plowed, did a great job and the street is clear. So, sometimes human contact works.

to #16 probably the same reason Norwalk doesn’t label their streets and bridges it takes an effort and insight to what the residents need leadership.
do you have any idea how many trucks get lost in our city? simply ask a police officer they will tell you a daily occurance and why is that?

Is the sign at Exit 16 ever going to be changed ro reflect the correct location of the Police station or just removed from there.
I feel sorry for anyone who is actually looking for the Police station - they’ll never find it taking a left off of the exit.
