The slate is set for the special election on January 15. Ken Curran of Bethlehem won the Democratic caucus on Sunday, 24-11 over Woodbury’s John T. McCarthy.
Curran is the Chairman of the Bethlehem Democratic Town Committee and the State Central Committeeman representing that district. He ran Hartford Mayor Eddie Perez’s successful primary and general campaign earlier this year, and last year worked for Joe Lieberman. He got his start as a Democratic Town Committeeman in his late teens, and ran against DeLuca for this seat when he go out of College in ‘98, then went to work for former Congressman Jim Maloney.

The ever vigilant oystermen of Norwalk are keeping an eye on the electrical cable work being done across the sound to Long Island. Imagine if they knew commentators here were proposing
power cable replacement project that began last month and slices through oyster beds in Norwalk Harbor on its way to Northport, N.Y., has not damaged the beds, shellfishermen and city and power company officials said.
“We had big concerns about the natural beds they go through - that’s where we get our seed oysters from,” said Norm Bloom, owner of Norm Bloom & Son shellfish company.

There are two themes that emerged form last night’s BOE budget committee meeting. One is that Dr. Corda has emerged from last year’s budget process a little wiser in that he appears to be listening. The second is that the long time entrenched BOE still haven’t figured out that ch-ch-ch-changes are a good thing. The longish meeting covered the bases on questions, concerns and format, and I’ll delve into my contemporaneous coverage below, but I want to focus on the ending of the meeting up front.
