The upshot of talking to the frigid candidates at Columbus, West Rocks and St. Mary’s was that everyone said it was cold, that the turnout seemed low, and that they were looking forward to 8pm.

There were numerous theories to what that all meant.

In the rest of the state, an altercation made the Hartford Courant as supporters of incumbent mayor Perez clashed with challenger Sate Rep. Minnie Gonzalez. The optical scanner did not like wet ballots in South Windsor, Hartford, and New Britain. In Bridgeport, there are 7 candidates running for mayor which matches the Democrat voter registration ratio of 7 to 1.

When you look back nostalgically at a period of time, it’s always the small businesses that tend to lend that period dating of small town Americana. This set of polaroids is all about signs, but the store fronts they grace say more about the economy of today through the lens of yesteryear.
