I decided to take a few minutes away from football to drive through town looking for evidence of these “Veto Moccia” campaigns. I did not see any signs anywhere. I hit most of the districts, and also noted that signs for all candidates were few and far between. The foliage was great though, and while it appears that the summer weather is over, it was a nice day out there.

Turfffffgirrrlllll, oh pleaseeeeee !!!!! Stop lying ! Your biased partisanship and reporting is showing ! What you are saying is patently false. Their are veto dick signs at many major intersections, a robocall was done to all dems and unaffiliateds urging people to “veto moccia” and there is a veto dick rally tomorrow at 12:00 on the green. BTW why weren’t you at the dem fundraiser today ? You could have reported that a group of norwalk firefighters were there, and several hundred people who picked up their “veto moccia” handouts. Stop being like the neocon channell, fox. Tell the truth in an unbiased way instead of your neocon and biased republican mode.
-
veto moccia: I did not see a single “veto moccia” sign at any major intersection including, East Ave, Strawberry Hill, Connecticut Ave, Westport Ave, Main Ave, West Rocks, Ponus Ave and Flax Hill.
I did not attend the Thursday Republican fundraiser either.
-
Haven’t seen any either.
-
Thank you Turffie for researching this. Apparently Democrats think campaigning on this blog replaces real campaigning.
-
Democrats believe that Moccia has to go. Veto Moccia!

Its called desperation. You know a candidate is in trouble when you see Briggs signs all on public property and pubic parks. Shame on whoever put them there . Briggs should send out people to take them down. NOW#!Hey Veto Moccia get some help you need it.
-
he has got to go !!!!! veto moccia on tuesday.
-
Desperation is only something Dick Moccia is feeling. His cushie job as mayor is about to be over and out. Merrill will get at least 1200 votes and that snatches a win from Moccia. Polls don’t lie.
-
Want to bet??? 250 at best, the rest are nags and mares!
-
I haven’t seen any Veto Moccia signs either. This seems like a last ditch effort for the Democratic party in town. What would they be saying if Mayor Moccia hadn’t vetoed that 180 day demolition ordinance? They would be scratching their heads looking for something actually worthwhile to make an issue. When they can’t come up with anything better than “Veto Moccia”, they are in big trouble!
-
Have to agree with you. I’ve been out and about with an open eye for these veto Moccia signs. Truth is it’s a dumb slogan and the public majority would have NO idea that it is someone’s lame idea of a joke. It makes no sense.
-
I may have seen one Veto Moccia sign. Someone took a Moccia sign and put a black X over Moccia. It was on Fillow street.
-
I had not seen any until a little while ago when I was driving on rt 1 for gas and one was in the median. LMAO
-
I heard the dems are gonna blitz every train in town tomorrow with their new veto moccia slogan. could be devastating for dick.
-
how come no activity at r hq today ? No mailing sent to the unaffiliates by a single r council or boe candidate. looks real promising r’s !!!! great strategy by the r leadership. the best letter to editor was by dave davidson. these r’s are an embarassment to real r’s.

Armed suspect wearing a gold sweatsuit in south Norwalk is on the loose
Six officers to take down one suspect , how many were on the other night at 9 pm.
Crime stats say we are doing better
Police investigate two severe beatings
- City police reported that two men were severely beaten in separate incidents.
The first assault occurred before 9 p.m. Thursday on Soundview Avenue. A city man told police three or four men exited a tan car and jumped him, Sgt. Andre Velez said.
The victim said after one of the men punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground, another man hit him in the head with a silver gun. A third man beat him with a baseball bat.Shortly after 9 p.m., the man was walking by Observatory Place when the car reappeared and struck the man, the victim told police. He said the driver then backed over his legs before the men got out of the car and beat him again, demanding the cell phone, Velez said.
In the second incident, a New Haven man was arrested in the beating of another man outside a Wall Street bar early Friday morning, police said.Pablo Calva, 21, of 44 Admiral St., New Haven, was charged with first-degree assault and held on $20,000 bond.
The incident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. when an officer parked across from El Mexicano, at 22 Wall St., saw six or seven men run from the establishment to the side parking lot.
this has nothing to do with the election it has to do with qualirt of life in Norwalk
don’t like don’t read it ,
my concern is the safety of the police, without them we don’t have a sense of security at all correct?
I’ll hammer this stuff into the ground

This IS pathetic: it is now 9:30pm on the Sunday night before the elections, and EXACTLY ONE candidate rang our doorbell this entire election season, and that was 3 weeks ago! Got one robo-call from wrong district guys, and one polite old-fashioned email asking for my vote.
By my estimates there were 41 “possible” door-bell ringers:
3 Mayoral
4 In district council
10 At large council
2 Treasurers
2 Sheriffs (are you kidding me?)
2 Town Clerk
2 Board of Education ( I wish they had shown up!)
4 Selectman (what the hell do they do?)
8 Constables (see above)
2 Taxing District Commish’s
2 Taxing District Treasurers
And a partridge in a pear tree….One candidate came over (Lindstrom), one robo-call from wrong district (Hempstead/Straniti,) and one email asking for vote (Park). I would even have welcomed a chat with Shamu guy at this point.
IT IS TRULY PATHETIC. -
Itspathetic - you are so right. I haven’t gotten any phone calls, and no doorbell ringers. Haven’t seen any candidates even showing their faces around my neighborhood. If there weren’t a few signs up in the neighborhood, I wouldn’t even know there was an election coming. Except for the town clerk position, this has been the dullest campaign I can remember.
-
the ten gallon hat guy stopped by my door about 10 days ago. respectfull and well spoken, and not a typical politician. he has my vote.
-
I think “Veto Moccia” must be reporting in from a parallel universe where these signs actually exist. I have been all over East Norwalk today and have not seen one ‘Veto Moccia’ sign. I was at Silvermine Tavern tonight, and drove all the way along Silvermine Avenue — again, not a single sign. There’s nothing “neocon” about it, Veto Moccia — how about some visual proof that these things exist? Or did you paint them in invisible ink?
-
enrwlker, you are a neocon crackpot and everyone knows it. you believe your good friend will win by 4000 plus votes. get real. stop denying the veto moccia campaign. it is real and I am sure you are lying about what you have seen. their are signs at the entrance to cranbury park, at calf pasture, and down by roton point. they are popping up everywhere. stop being so jealous that my party has more foot soldiers than your neocons. BTW, did you forget how your party is doing on the war thing ? the residents will hold the r’s accountable this tuesday.
-
The more you flap your gums Veto, you twisted dilussional, wack-o, $h!t for brains, loser, profalatic, retarted excuse for a human being, the more Moccia will win by. Can’t wait to know your world will come crashing down around your minute tiny pea brain in less than 40 hours, Dim-wit!
-
17 & 18
I wish I could have knocked on your door, but when you walk with a cane, going up one street and down the next is just plain immpossible. So I have to go where I can find voters in bunches.I thought about robo calls, but I didn’t think people liked them. Did you really miss them?!?
Please remember how many voters there are — it’s nearly impossible to get to all of you

-
number 22, you sure do not know how to spell. that is why you shouldn’t be mayor. as to enrwlker we put a veto moccia sign outside of your old address on east avenue. less than 24 hours til we can vote out moccia with our overwhelming veto.
-
The only disappointment on Tuesday will by those who don’t win and thaey will be on both sides of the aisle. The rantings of Veto are just that, rantings. Thankfully the average inteligent person in this tow does not depend on idiotic rantings to make their decisions for them. Believe it or not besides the possible 50-60 regular posters on this sight, most could care less about what is said here. For either side to sit here and play these childish mind game is absolutely absurd. I hate to see if any of you run large companies or businesses because your bosses may want to re-interview for your position. Ifthis is the way you behave when you don’t like something someone says or does then I would have serios concerns about the welfare of any company.
-
remember to veto moccia tomorrow
-
That’s okay, Mike Geake. You were there early when we floodies needed you most, and that is what counts. I do hope when YOU you are elected you will actually LISTEN to the flood victims. Others purport to know both the problem and the solutions, and in reality they haven’t a clue. And thanks for NOT going the robo-call route.. too impersonal.
-
itspathetic-delective thinking on your part, I believe that there were many more out ther when the flood victims were having their problems and if I recall, the full council and the Mayor pushed for more funding for the drains and infrastructure. As someone who was hit so many times by water up to my knees in some areas and higher in others and lost so much money in trying to replace what was lost and fix what was destroyed by water, I think you need to remember that there were many out to help us. I am not saying its anywhere close to being fixed because there’s a long way to go beforeit even comes close, I’m saying give credit where credit is due. And blame past administrations for this proble because if you are honest with yourself and others, this didn’t just start in the past two years, we have been trying to get help for quite some time now and prior admins just pushed us away as bothersome gnats.
-
Anon 9:53 - I believe Tobin sent out a mailing to unaffiliateds, and though otherwise I haven’t seen anything from single R candidates other than Moccia.
-
#29-I guess since you don’t live in Norwalk you didn’t recieve the packets at your front door. I did! Also many of my friends did as well. Maybe they are a little more conservative than their opponents and don’t feel the need to bombard us with wasteful literature that trashes people, rather tthey dropped by and left us informative material that we can read at our leisure. No nasty literature, no mailbox full of the same stuff day after day, just plain facts for us to decide. Candidates seem to think that a nasty campaign gets them votes. What it actually does is make us either not vote at all or get really angry and vote for their opponent because of their negativity. Like those on this blog who have turned many of us off because of their rediculous verbage like veto moccia etc. If you have legitimate information we will listen but just because a handful of you who have an agenda have decided to make others believe their garbage, keep in mind, not everyone feels the way you do.
