To the editor:
As an unaffiliated voter, I have always prided myself as voting for individuals running in various city, state and national elections based on their background as private citizens, their proposed programs and their records, if they held public office before, rather than on the political party that they are identified with. I continue to believe that is normally the appropriate approach to take.

I decided to take a few minutes away from football to drive through town looking for evidence of these “Veto Moccia” campaigns. I did not see any signs anywhere. I hit most of the districts, and also noted that signs for all candidates were few and far between. The foliage was great though, and while it appears that the summer weather is over, it was a nice day out there.

Shelton spent of the 90’s enticing corporate office parks to move to brand new class A faciliites. Now they are getting around to repurposing old factories into condos and rebuilding their main street.
For now, the property next door to Rebecca’s Miller new home is a pile of bricks and rubble.But Miller, one of the new owners of a unit in the Birmingham, a 100-unit condominium on Canal Street, couldn’t be happier.
“I think they have great plans” for the area, Miller, an interior designer, said. “I think its going to be another area like New Haven; with lots of little shops and boutiques.”

If we could all tear ourselves away from the election campaigns for a minute, the Advocate ran a story today about the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County having only 5 Turkeys in its freezer.
By Friday afternoon, Lombardo, the executive director of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, had five turkeys to distribute to needy families for Thanksgiving. Her agency’s goal is to distribute 3,000.The food bank had about 1,400 turkeys at this time last year, Lombardo said, but past donors have not been as generous in 2007 because of a slumping economy.
