I will collect any questions posted in this thread and submit them at the debates Monday night. It’s like Jeopardy!, post must be in the form of a question.

I’d like the mayoral candidates to address what they will do about the illegal apartments that are runing my neighborhood. There are people packed into houses that are trashy looking outside and electric and tv hookups that show where too many living people are living there.

Hot off drafting Poruban’s ethics complaint hizzformerdishonorable knopp will be telling the democratic candidates what to say at 700PM at the democratic headquarters this evening (Sunday night). Feel free to drop on in and hear what Alex Knopp, oh no, I mean Walter Briggs believes is facing the city at the dem HQ this evening. All are welcome to attend. He will also be telling the candidates what pat political answers they should be giving at tomorrow night’s debate. This is really something. Astonishing, but seems like something dem leadership would come up with.
Maybe the questions can be submitted to Knopp to answer for the dems this evening.

I would ask Mr. Mayor why did he screw the firefighters, and not punish The Chief for his miss handling of the Scot Wilson incident, and when does he think that the sensetivity training was going to happen in any of the City Departments including the Fire Dept that never had it!
-
Why are developers more important than lifelong residents and businesses? Why do we have to foot the bill for Stan Seligson to get his pearls?
-
Because maybe the developers create condos and commercial properties that have pay higher tax dollars per square foot of land than single family homes, and they are less likely to have school aged children which are the most expensive part of tax liability.
-
I would ask Duleep and Wall how far she would go to win a council seat.
-
I want to know what political philosophy Fred Bondi really follows.

# 8
I can say this, it sure has hell is not to help or give a damn about what his constituency thinks.
-
I would ask Moccia why he is silent on the demolition of 124 East Avenue, right across the street from City Hall.
I would ask him what he has done to bring more state resources to Norwalk given that the Governor and the State Budget Director are both Republicans.
I would ask what he is doing to lower property taxes in Norwalk aside from claiming that the conveyance tax is doing so, when in fact all it does is punish homeowners for living here and cause them to raise asking prices for their houses.
I would ask what he thinks of the firefighters’ union now after they rejected the arbitration agreement on time and a quarter. Does he think he owes them any more for the help they gave him in getting elected?
I would ask him just how the multitudes of bank robberies and recent shootings play into his statement that he’s “tackled” the crime and gang problem.
I would ask him what he considers “balanced” development since property developers in Norwalk are more responsible for determining the future of how this City looks than City Hall is.
Finally, I would ask him what color is his favorite track suit and what side of his front porch he would put the couch on…

#7 - My guess is they will go low and turn it into a nasty campaign. They have no issues and Hempstead and Straniti are doing a great job and everyone knows that. I suspect we will see something from them this week. Probably lies and who knows what else.
-
when is the city going to hear what has been done to retreive or replace the stolen items from the Roton school that were taken over the school vacation?
Does the school have any suspects?
-
when is the city going to hear about the war memorial that was damaged by the Maritime Aquarium, and whether suspects have been named?
-
when will the city get the crime stats for this year so we can compare to our own stats for 2006?
-
How much overtime has been paid out due to under manned shifts and on the job injury and sickness?
-
I would ask the candidates if any of them plan to address the trend (started largely in Knopp’s administration) of hiring candidates for department head level positions who do not live in Norwalk or even a neighboring town. Most cities have a residency requirement for those positions.
It is somewhat humorous that so many people are shocked that our superintendent of schools (who lives 140 miles away in Poughkeepsie, NY) does not seem to have an appropriate level of concern for our schools or community. Gee, who’d have thought?
-
I would ask the Democrats why they couldn’t find a legitimate candidate for mayor?
-
I’d ask why Susan Gunn Bromely is still employed when 6 years of historical commission members have proven she is incompetent.
-
hey posting number #17 maybe they didn’t look for one to level the playing field with what the republicans have to offer.
seriously you have nothing to ask?
Maybe i can help you out
Is the city having another farmers market next year and where?
Does the mayor expect a landslide delivered by the fire dept this year?
se if you think long enough you could come up with one or two,,your hurting your party this way I know republicans and they do think about issues, hell I may be one too ever think of that?
-
I would ask the Mayor to update us on the success of the grant writer he hired. How many grants have we applied for? What were they? What was the dollar value? What has the City been awarded? How many have we failed to win? How many are we waiting to hear on?
-
I would ask how many grants by other than the grant writer have we won?
I would ask with the grants we have received has there been any service plans questioned and how many need service plans in order to continue?
With all the grants we have received unless additional funding is received to continue programs ect how much is the city going to need to come up with to maintain them?
good questions #20 but there were some more..
-
I would ask their position on eminent domain and seek a commitment to never use it for private development.
-
hell no we won’t go signs are so attractive in a city, makes you wonder how those people are going to vote, and their friends?
How much Eminent domain plans are in the making, or needed for our Disney land to be built?
City hall such a magical Kingdom

I would ask both candidates if they had a plan on where all the children that will be housed in all these new condominiums and apartments are going to attend school. They seem to be in the Jefferson and Tracey school districts. Since these two schools are already overcrowded and have little room for expansion, has anyone thought about having to build a new school or schools to accommodate these families that we are supposed to be attracting.
I would also ask why our taxes keep going up when everyone is saying that the new developments will lower our taxes. Housing prices are coming down in Norwalk, will that mean our revaluation will reflect this?
-
could the old police station lot accomodate a new school?
It would all ready have a playground close to it , and near almost all new housing correct?
What new ideas have come to the Mayor about the vacant lot when the old police station is gone,,he did say there is interest, do we expect some input from him or does he keep this info tucked away with all the other secrets?

#7 & #11 About those 2 neophytes Duleep & Wall. They couldn’t shine Hempstead & Straniti’s shoes. Have you even seen Duleep’s web site? If you want a real laugh, visit it. Apparently what pushed her to run is an 18 year old son who doesn’t know the value of a vote. She’s right there with that idiot Jimmy Carter when he asks his little girl Amy, during his campaign, what she thinks is the biggest problem in the country. How old was she at the time? 7 or 8 years old? The man doesn’t know what the problems of the nation are so he asks a little girl for advise..how sweet. Anyway, her home page invites us to look and read her positions on the issues and to get “engaged”….but read What? She has nothing written anywhere! There are 3 pages to click off the home page: DECIDE, ACT and DONATE. So I clicked on “Decide” and instead of finding out what her position on the issues are (which she invited me to read), all I found was her e-mail and How to Send Her MONEY! So I clicked on ACT, and what did I find, her e-mail and HOW TO SEND HER MONEY!, So I clicked on DONATE, and you guessed it, the same, her e-mail & HOW TO SEND HER MONEY! She has not an Iota of experience and neither does Gail Wall. What was she involed with? The Hysterical Society? BIG WHOOP!! Now there’s a REAL issue for ya’. You go Gail(wind)!! LOL! In fact, didn’t they just do a poll last week as reported on this blog? Sure they did. And was it a poll of what THEY think needs to be done? NO! They were polling to find out what the potential voters thought the top 3 issues should be. It’s OCTOBER and your just asking voters now, only a few weeks from the general election? SO what your saying is, you don’t Know what the top three issues in District D are! HELLO!! ANYONE HOME? If this is any indication of these two’s intellect, then believe me, Hempstead & Straniti haven’t a thing to worry about. I’ll bet your right #11 - they will probably get nasty in the campaign in the last few weeks Because they have nothing to mount a campaign on. Infact, I am going to predict right here and now, in capital letters:
WATCH DULEEP & WALL RESORT TO DIRTY POLITICAL MUDSLINGING AND LIES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS OF THE ELECTION BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO ISSUES TO CAMPAIGN ON.
Now that I’ve put my prediction on record, we’ll see what happens. If I’m wrong I will gladly eat my words, but if I’m right, you’ll see my prediction everywhere including the press.
SO, after all I’ve said, my question to Walter Briggs is, WHere did you find these two?, This is the best you could find to run in District D and you want to mayor?? -
wow all that for four questions #26 that can’t really be used,,must be a republican, a lot to write and nothing to say,,
Funny you should call Jimmy Carter an idiot,I thought he was also, until the day he showed up at three mile island,,it wasn’t for a picture taking opt, he actaully knew about the reactor itself,,odd how he learned so much in Groton,,I guess they are all idiots as well,,but as the saying goes takes one to know one and it seems you just took that one home..
I’m an ashamed republican tonight
-
HA HA your a republican?? and I’m Mother Teressa! You keep thinking that Jimmy Carter was anything but an idiot, you and the other two people on this planet. (Republican my ass) Why don’t you go look at Duleep’s web site and see all her hot air? What no answer for that? Please show Arrogant dem please..What the hell is she about, other than asking for money…what experience does she have? Does it even come close to our current District D coucil rep’s?
Enough questions for you? Try answering them without your artrogangt pompoous “I know better” attitude. And what the hell was that last line “I’m an ashamed republican tonight”? Yeah ..your a repuublican! A republican that likes Jimmy Carter! LOL One more question, Are you always this delusional? take your meds please.

Honestly where do people find the energy to claim fellow neighbors don’t know anything about Norwalk. I’m thinking all the candidates decide to run because they care. I’d like to see my representatives actually do things. Right now I see nothing from any of them, maybe because I am childless and live in a condo. It seems so many here write us off as if we don’t count. I want to know if my reps will make sure that my condo association follows regulations.

Ranting Republicans are an embarassment these days.
