Turfie, that could be a great ad for any anti-Republican campaign. Thanks for giving hope to those of us who yearn to see the clowns and cronies in the Moccia administration run out of office. What a bunch of nitwits.
-
Funny, my take was other way around
Get rid of the all Democratic bobble-heads on the BOE.
Seriously though, the point is that we should all encourage people to think creatively on many things, not just politically. YMMV.
-
Oversight on the BOE? Sure, no problem with that. But to suggest that there is any “creative” thinking at City Hall nowadays or with the GOP Common Council membership is giving them way, way, way too much credit.
I look at the rosters of candidates on either side and will go with the Dems regardless of the problems with the BOE. Briggs needs to be aware of the issues with the BOE and by now I am sure he is.
I see the youth and energy on the Dems’ lineup and will vote a straight ticket except for Jabba the Bondi, who represents the corrupt Good Old Boy network that is long overdue for the garbage bin and which put Soo Gunn and Mini-Jabba in place. The Republican lineup is tired old, same old BS that relies on no new ideas.
The Dick (should have) the ear of Bob Genuario, a Republican Norwalker who is the Republican Governor’s Budget Director. Show me de mo-nay, Moo-chay.

Anonymous: Ahem, then you need to keep in mind one very important detail. The chairs of all committees in chairs of all common council “creative thinking” are Democrats. If you see a lack of creative output form the common council, then you need to do some deep soul searching to find out why after 6 years, we have the most uncreative thinking in my favorite committee, public works. The flood victims can tell you all about that Democratic leadership that has managed to ignore infrastructure issues since 2002. I’ve read the posted minutes, it is clear who has been awake, thinking, and asking questions.
And no, Briggs hasn’t a clue about what to do on the BOE. He was AWOL on the whole issue of replacing Rick “Ask No Questions Of The Professionals” Fuller.
-
Youth and energy on the dems ticket ? Where ? How about inneffective 5 Norwalkouters and 10 neophytes that have no experience in the community. The Outers run 5 council committees and have accomplished nothing, zip, nada !!!!!!!

you’re always going to have “the crazies” and that’s a good thing. But they are not often well suited to participating in organized government; they lack diplomatic skills, the ability to compromise and to develop concensus. They don’t usually listen very well. So while they’re good for making people think and for grand gestures to make a point they are not usually in it for the long haul nor do they exhibit the breagth of talent necessary to be effective in government.

Interesting that there are no postings of the articles regarding the republican governor Rell threats to veto the bonding package that contains much needed monies for Norwalk, or Bush’s plan to cut the funding we need for dredging the Norwalk harbor by $3M. What good is having a republican mayor when the republican governor and republican president do nothing for Norwalk? What is the mayor doing to work with the governor and president to get Norwalk the assistance we need?
-
what can he do?

-
He can get out his crayons and write a letter. He probably doesn’t know how to use the internets.

Dick can color this one in, as far as I know we lost our only outdoor market in Norwalk.
ok so this joke is getting old, so isn’t the administration we are even
-
Dick prefers canned vegetables, like his campaign running mates…
-
#11-At least his running mates aren’t trying to push through a master plan that makes no sense! 6.5 years and it needs more work now than before. didi anyone look at the industrial zones, did anyone think of perhaps resticting usage? Did anyone think of where all the money is going to come from to impliment all the building that wiil take place place over the next ten years? Or perhaps open space in areas that have absolutely none? Give me a break. You all want to chastise and criticise but I don’t see any of you out there running for office to make a difference.
-
I prefer progress in the shape of a master plan to the haphazard bulldozer and sledgehammer approach that Moccia embraces. “Da vishin ting” is not within the capacity of his tiny peabrain.
Chastise and criticize? That’s the pot calling the kettle black.
-
then you don’t care about the future of Norwalk because that master plan shows us nothing. You can blame Moccia all you want but we had 4 yrs of the dem do nothings as far as west ave and wall street go and now that we are finally seeing progress they all want to jump on the bandwagon. Briggs is just a layover from the Knopp admin and takes direction from them. So tell me why again did it take 61/2 yrs to draw up this pitiful plan?

#5: “neophytes that have no experience in the community”???
I have been very active here in Norwalk and have been a Second Taxing District Commissioner for the past four years; I am active at the state level and am on the Accessability Advisory Board for the Connecticut Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities; and I have been more than a little involved in politics on the national level.
What experience in which community do you find lacking?
-
its not the experience i see lacking its the lack of using it, then to promote other agenda’s or simple self preservation has gotten in the way of progress.
There are too many issues that clearly need addressing, the unions know take care of the issues that cost money take away from contracts, The officials who have been in place for years seem at times not to know much outside the office, and when problems come into the office they find a way to send it someplace else.
No one wants accountability on their shift, its so easy to blame the one before them..
we have experience in red herrings simply read the papers , we are fed by spoon most of the time , a lot less now with the blog , a lot less press releases as well.
Ever see other cities when officials talk, they don’t simply say we hope for or we trust its getting better they say we will work harder or find other ways to combat problems and not rely on what the state and federal trend is,,no one wants examples we want results , we are way to smart to accept Jimmy the Greek numbers when it comes to safety and welfare of our residents.
I enjoy seeing other comments from other police chiefs and mayors and ect they are always on or in the news they have something say, give the residents a sense of direction. Ever notice how many faces are not on channel 12, its like we have no spokes people in Norwalk for anything. When is the last interview on a newscast did you see from Norwalk?
not when serious crimes increase no where in an article should it say but over all I’m pleased.
If it wasn’t for John Nickerson writing about all the crime and the Hour reporting at least half of that would we really know what was going on..
the crime now is not faceless hit and run ,,its armed robberies and its all the time,,I doubt if the facts the other day from the police report will reflect how this year ends,,I’d like to see a recap or decent followup right before election..you know so I can complain some more..
for the ones with experience I wish you all luck in this election for the ones who have the bad luck becuase at times we seem to lack leadership sorry there is always tommorrow,,not a way to live is it?
-
Hello,
Great forum!
I found a lot of interesting information here.
Does this forum helpful for you also? -
yes it uncovers the fact that the facts we get from the politicians are sometimes old or contorted to fit the elections.
We keep hearing about crime facts from 2005, as one posting said our newspapers say 2007 where are those stats?
Its great to see after almost 104 weeks a dozen attaboys, the Chamber of Comm has its agenda, and the budgets are looking like a crossword puzzel..
Read this blog long enough and wonder if we all could decide on what color to paint the white house.
meanwhile watch our tax dollars decrease like the Euro
Have you ever seen a decent interview on 12 after we have experienced a crime or tragedy? its like the city is on its own and no one dept head gives any press time to any issues,,why is that?
What about when the Band has won three in row,,how much more detached from the public can the school BOE and politicians be from what actually counts for most of the students and parents of this city?
Ok so we will see the mayor washing a car at the fire station for Roton Today or the open house at the Rowyaton fire station or will he be only at the opening for the Green Demo company at 1 for the ribbon cutting.
Now don’t get ne wrong Steve Feldmen needs our support he has done good for a lot and now in Norwalk he continues to help.I hope you all read the Hour article on friday B1 Chris Bosak another up and coming reporter like Amanda Pinto,,
we really need a what to do today posting on this blog,,it would give us all a place to let everyone know what good is happening in the city,
The churches could use the PR with tag sales ect ,the food pantry’s are getting low and the weekly asistance they give is not coming from the city or grants its coming from the residents and church resources.
Now the white house is saying no fuel for illegals another thread maybe?
regardless we need to take care of our own,,that means Norwalk not the rep or the dem or that other team the 10 gallon hat gut is with..
unedited rant
