It looks like Banner WInes & Liquor and Crossroads Pizza 3, both on North Main ave had a fire early this morning. By the looks of things, more fireman were going in and out of Banner, but I saw more smoke coming out of Crossroads. The early morning fire drew 2 ladder trucks, a water truck and a rescue truck. There did not appear to be any injuries. The Norwalk fire department arrived on the scene shortly before 7:50 am and looked to be wrapping up by 8:20 am.

I imagine where food and sanitary codes have to be met , and with what may of occured in the package store, the fire dept is still on site.

I would think until the box for the structure fire is sounded closed the fire dept has control over the premises,

Back in the old days all liquor had to be thrown away a board of health factor in some states, all food the same so if there was a fire of any volume or smoke damage it all gets thrown out,,in some states the package store inventory is now considered waste and has to be disposed of properly,,

so whats the deal in Norwalk,,back home we simply had a party at someones pool and took care of the booze ourselves,,

I do have some great stories like most old jakes.

the link on #3 19th round some of my postings from the grassy knoll are said to be half baked at times but I think we need to thank the firefighters on this I’m not sure, they never seem to get the accolades they deserve at times.

anyone who can shed some light please do..

Yes, I can shed some light. The fire fighters are pretty handsome. They have my vote.

You realize of course, that the liquor store has to be carefully checked for any wall fires or ceiling fire and smoke damage. The state liquor commission will have any liquor that it believes has been subject to temperatures from fire and smoke in direct or indirect fires, to be condemned and destroyed. I remember years ago it used to be brought out by the inspectors and each bottle broken into a dumpster.
The dumpster would of course leak the booze into the gutter and I swear that I saw several street folks in the gutter with empty containers trying to save the stuff before it went down the storm drain which was about 100 feet away. I don’t even remember the police bothering them, as they were not in the way of the work. It was a long time ago and now the haul the bottles away to be destroyed by the liquor commission.

AH! the good old days when you really could get something for nothing.
