There’s more going on, and I have a golf course to play this afternoon, but don’t let that stop you form commenting on anything else. I suspect that Mr. Greenpeace might have a few concerns to air about the construction accidents.

    things.

The DPW plans to hold an open house on Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Public Works Center, 15 South Smith St. Tour the waste water treatment plant and eat pop corn.
The house on 93 East ave awaits courts to decide its fate while porch columns and railings have leapt from their 250 year role as supports and independently dive off the porch into the bushes in a new evolutionary feature to escape the burning of Norwalk.

Infrastructure money is in short supply. Up to now, its been spent on school construction, and look what Opdahl has managed to do with it thus far. Long time residents are clamoring for flooding relief. DPW director Hal Alvord said to Robert Koch of The Hour, “Traffic was going to be our big effort. Then, all of a sudden all this flooding took place.” Seligson is the only developer looking for municipal bonds for infrastructure improvements, they total $104 million. Matt Miklave thinks infrastructure also means schools and “workforce housing”.

Meanwhile infrastructure for the rest of us residents might be considered to be pot hole free roads, trash pick up, non flooding storm water and sewer drains.

its free bring the kids and some questions, there won’t be anybody there to answer questions,,or will there be

Two armed robberies,,no I’m not blaming the mayor , no one read the memo,,its the BOE fault no one has taught the bad guys to read.

Makes as much sense as the crimes itself, it effected an East Norwalk resident was a victim he was only shot in the hand in South Norwalk, I’m sure tresspassing charges will be lodged against him .

Now the other crime was ransacking and theft, but the way the crime was described it was kidnapping , false imprisonment, assualt with a weapon and forced entry but what do I know I’m only Mr. Greenpeace.

But this was just isolated incidents so nothing to worry about its election year.

Back to basice with OSHA if you see workplace voilation and see the fire or police have responded call the 579 5581 the Bridgeport office chance are you will be the one to notify them of an incident. If you have problems getting through call the Boston office of OSHA 1 617 565 9860 they may help, they can also call their office back in Bridgeport.

If a public works employee , fire or police get into a safety situation and needs a judgement call call the state of conn 1 860 263 6900 they will talk to you as well.

Nothing to say about the accidents i hope the officer is ok and back with his family, the worker who almsot got hurt yesterday with the collaspe on main st I trust the public will be protected from any other mishap its on the sidewalk where people are walking so I’m sure someone was made aware of a inspection that was needed.

I’m sure the green house (West ave) that was suppose to be boarded up was not done becuase someone in the building dept saw no reason to enforce the law,or the recomnedation by what fire and police would of said about a vacant house after the gas pipe eruption..

no theres nothing to say Norwalk is on the move and and the residents are still stuck in their corners of the city waiting for the farmers market to open I assume.

    http://www.yourct.com/newzee/2007/09/17/norwalk-do-they-look-like-they-know-what-they-are-doing/

one would think if any public safety official saw this they could of called osha I guess the blog ran this to see if anyone caught any safety voilations,,this was done again this week no supervision no safety but who cares..quality of work reflects in safety anyone can tell you that.

the deal is simply take pictures when in doubt in Norwalk, they tell the story and make it impossible for state agencies to simply sweep it under the rug.It does make Norwalk accountable and makes what us all safer in the long run..whats a life worth nowadays?

  • 6 Mr Greenpeace // Sep 28, 2007 at 12:17 pm

The old police station whats there to say I’m sure the Petro Tite report on the underground tanks were conclusive, even the one they couldn’t get to, I’m sure we have our experts, we did have Brooks do the work.No sense in picking apart the facts from fiction but just the subject on the tanks alone tells me its far from the final report. There was a gas incident not to long ago coming from one of the nozzels behind the station so there was gas there,,and no reported spills well thats a jackass statement, who reports a mistake like that,,

storm drains, runnoff ect give us details but not the facts..good show , the report was worth waiting for.

for you news hounds Petro Tite would be a good start to ask questions unless this was it for reporting the news.More news in a fortune cookie I’m sad to say on some days.

    your welcome #7

No actually it should get better when the crime and the injustice seeps out of South Norwalk into the rest of the city., everyday occurances are what? unconmfortable to read,

lets feel for the man who just passed out on the corner by the Merritt homeless shelter just now, he got great care, by 5 of the best firefighters in the city, sent in one of the best ambulances in the city to one of the finest hospitals in the state from one of the most problematic areas of South Norwalk,He will be seen by one of the best doctors we have to offer,,your right I can find some good after all.

Right before this we had someone experincing a heart attack at the clinic on water street, I trust he was getting the care he needed before this so an attack was prevented, not everyone has great health insurance so we are lucky to have the clinic, your right I can find positive things to write about,,

no reflection on you #7 but seriously does anyone know what our city does on a day to day basis to help out the ones who need it?

How was the farmers market today?

its great these cities and towns in Ct have grant writers who are delivering the grants..This is positive for our state.

    its all good, isn’t it?

ok so I forgot the rest of the cities and towns not making a buck of the markets as you can see there are plenty of cities getting stiffed by these large land mongers as well..

sorry fell of the nice positive wagon..

Regarding Mr. Greenpeace’s posting #6, why weren’t the oil and gas tanks emptied when the police department moved out? I can understand keeping the fuel tank to heat the building (is it still being heated?), but the other tanks should have been emptied and a credit for the fuel given to the City.

  • 16 Mr Greenpeace // Sep 28, 2007 at 8:44 pm

I find a 80 gallon tank still in the ground unable to get to with all the heavy equipment the city owns was odd.The size itself was odd.

If we are sure the ground around the tanks are not contaminated I imagine we will see test wells around the site? or borings ?

Examined underground tanks is that like testing the tanks or just visual, the lines going to the pumps and the vent pipes are also sources of gas contamination I would imagine they were also tested or looked at…..

besides if there was any spills or contamination just by the fact the tanks could of had lead gas back when they were installed will tell us a lot more when removed,,I have never seen a report give any parcel a clean bill of health until the tanks have been removed..

Then again when was the last time they were tested, how old are the tanks and more important how did the tanks gets checked for fuel levels. I ask because older tanks never received proper strike plates.

Strike plates are put into tanks so when the fuel truck driver sticks the tank he simply use to let the stick go until it hits bottom hopefully onto a strike plate otherwise you find a hole about where the strike plate would of been , simple old tank logic for simple old buildings…

How many underground tanks were there,,gas , heating oil and what was the 80 gallon tank waste oil did they ever service the cruisers there?

If a visual was done it meant the tanks were cleaned and emptied , if that was the case when was that done?

Are we to understand this is going to cost over a 1/2 million dollars to do just the asbestos?

The cleaning of lead estimates are $5,600 dollars is that including disposal a class A or B waste?

Now the tanks to be removed is that $9,400 including cleaning including the one they can’t get to?

Don’t get me wrong but cleaning one gas tank with bottoms could cost that much , before removal depending on how big the tanks are,and how many.

Too bad we didn’t have some environmental savy reporters who could ask this stuff it would help in figuring how much this is actually going to cost us loaded taxpayers.

Now we were all told this week we have an engineer of sorts working at the golf course wonder if we could use her talents here maybe give her some water for her golf course..just a thought, be nice if she was a taxpayer also,,

So I waited for this report not to rip it apart but to look at the facts and not accuse anyone of anything but it seems for what we paid for it took a long time to deliver to the taxpayers,,was it done before the budgets were planned for the city or after and who would be planning anything on something that hasn’t even been deemed clean, why can’t we know what private parties it would seem first come first served doesn’t work in a city of this size or does it?

I wonder how the officers feel about the building now and what it holds now for a health risk?

I’m glad they got the buyout plans after all they worked there didn’t they?

    my rant for the day

  • 17 here we go again // Sep 29, 2007 at 5:29 pm

I guess thats it no more to say on the old police station? I am sure the record crowd at stepping stones had a great day today parking was limited i suppose if spaces are taken away when the new deal is done they won’t have as many parking spots,,but who cares its only for the kids,,

  • 18 Anonymous // Sep 29, 2007 at 5:37 pm

When what new deal is done? does anyone here even know what they ar talking about? Why don’t you go to the developer and and see what the plans are and then make educated comments

  • 19 Mr Greenpeace // Sep 29, 2007 at 6:35 pm

here is an educated guess, the holes in the old police station and the debris on the ground and the holes in the pavement made it dangerous to all the children at stepping stones today.

When you talk asbestos you talk airborne material that I would assume could escape by leaving the holes Brooks punched into the sides of the building,,places where inquisitive kids would look into the holes are that big.

I’m talking 100s of kids parking lots all around the old police staion full and holes in the ground big enough for children to get their feet in.

I would never like to see our city get tagged with a lawsuit but maybe with some people it would be the only thing to wake some of you up we have poor leadership poor dept heads running most of the things in the city.

want pictures ask turfgrrl I’m sure if enough ask she will find some of the things I just described..

I can’t believe the news hounds didn’t do a walk around and see what other parents just saw, to say the least we have some work to do before we find the money to work on the building, one would be hire a contractor to clean up what Brooks did and secure it properly.

I always said you get what you pay for, forget the pictures get of your asses and go look i would say to others who want to see it for themselves who want to be armchair posters your not going to see it in the news,

I was shocked the debris left over from testing is all over the ground, is anyone here willing to verify by blog there is nothing to worry about?

Asbestos is airborne and all those kids in the playground and running around are safe,,I’m sorry i have become jaded with the antics this city pulls on the unsuspecting public, just what if i am right its unsafe what do we tell the 100’s of kids today that enjoyed stepping stones,

today by the way was an event along with an ems rig either standing by or on display, once i saw the conditions of the lot i left disgusted at what i just saw,,

So sunday bring the family and walk around the building expose them to the environment and tell me you have nothing to be concerned with..

You have something to say , say it after you have gone and seen what i just described..

The electrical transformers all three why are they still there do they contain PCB’s who owns them why weren’t they addressed by the press release why didn’t the news reporters ask,,it might be they don’t have the background or are simply not that good at what they do.

Transformers can be costly to dispose of a large disposal bill if leaking, and because they are still there I suspect they are,,so who pays fof that while our kids are possibly exposed.

Go look and walk around tell me I’m wrong ,,its easier than agreeing we may need new leadership after all..

What I saw today if the old police station was not here and parking spots were ,, stepping stones would still need more parking so any new things planned will need additional parking spots wouldn’t they..

ok so lets hear from the rocket science club now that you spent the day there.. are we going to say if stepping stones wants to stay in Norwalk they pay us more for parking..

  • 20 anon // Sep 29, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Mr. Greenpeace why don’t you ask Bill Krummel about your concens. He’s an engineer ans actually serves on the Public Works Committee. Your complaints here are too hard to follow.

  • 21 Mr Greenpeace // Sep 29, 2007 at 6:47 pm

I’ll ask Bill you take the walk around the old police staion and imagine wall to wall kids like today right where test borings and asbestos testing went on ,,how hard is that to follow,,

you need directions to the old station?

by the way it was an observation complaing does no good in Norwalk during an election year , there is always the other side,,

what other side is there to childrens safety? public safety?
