It looks as if the East Ave. widening project kicks off with a community meeting hosted by Norwalk’s DPW this Thursday September 20th. For those attending short attention span theater, this would be the project that will make 4 lanes out of whatever number you care to identify on East ave between exit 16 and Winfield street. The meeting will be held at City Hall, in the Community room at 7pm with Professor Plum and the lead pipe.

Widening East ave makes much sense. Especially in the area of the railroad bridge, where pedestrians and cars mix a little too closely. DPW has provide this phone number 203 854-7791 for more information.

Not sure how long this will take to come to fruition, but that bridge under pass has been a bottle neck for decades. It was fine in the 1930s but now it is just a traffic stopper. I am amazed that there is not an accident there every day.

The small section of street underneath the train tacks is not very pedestrian friendly. If they are widening this section it would be nice to remember the hard working Norwalk commuters and provide them with a safe walkway on both sides.

They might also want to consider fixing the small parking lot that requires a three point turn around maneuver to leave.

Not very pedestrian frendly is an understatement. Look at the railing it has been crushed and broken so many times that it is scary. Actually you should have a walkway on both sides of the bridge.
