An elderly pedestrian was killed crossing at the West ave/Wall street intersection and a sound stage is set to have a permanent location on Ely ave. Plus anything else you’d like to comment on.

I think today’s front page of the Hour was heartbreaking. Sad in so many ways. I think that’s why no one can even comment on it. It’s not the big headline disasters that get to us. It’s the personal ones like an old guy just trying to cross the street and some kids just trying to make some music. Very personal, very human pain.

Kind of makes you feel sad that his old fellow had lived that long just to die in a traffic accident.

Fellow on a bicycle in Westport also killed by a truck.

Arson suspected in fire in Band storage barn. Sad if true, but should be very easy to prove by the fire marshals.

Sound stage in Norwalk. I have no idea about this one, except it better not cost the taxpayer one CENT.

H L Gault turned permit turned down yesterday. Just goes to prove “No good deed goes unpunished.”

Unfortunately, the accident with the pedestrian and the Devine’s truck was an accident waiting to happen. This is what happens when heavy duty trucks use main city streets. Also the intersection has never had a sensible crossing plan. A tragedy for the pedestrian even if he was jaywalking and a tragedy for the the driver. No heavy commercial companies using multi-ton trucks should be allowed so close to the main street of a town. This is not a criticism of Devines because they have been there for close to 100 years if I am not mistaken and long before downtown traffic became
so congested. Picture it with a 1000 more condos and traffic going up along the road and you can forsee a reapeat of this accident in the near future.

Not to take away from the fact there was a loss of a life, and no crosswalk, come see how many crosswalks there are on Water Burditt, Meadow, Ely and Woodward where 100’s of kids are going to be taken the bus this year very soon, the roadwway itself is one of the most narrow street grids in the city but so far nothing has been said about no trucks here .

,while the politicians are sending a message of concern on Ely why don’t they look around and see what else the residents need and not a hey I’m running for mayor spot in channel 12 when the rest of could give a crap..funny how it was in the middle of the day any other time it would of been dangerous just ask the residents.

It never ceases to amaze me why our mayor or mayor wannabee couldn’t have anything else to say within the last couple of days with all the news coverage of their other projects,,or is it they don’t read the Advocate and understand the city is hurting and crime continues..

another round of shots on washington street last night ,I’m sure its not news anymore maybe not enough spent shells last night,,we counted 10 all in succesion sound like a 45 if that helps any.

That area of Wall Street where the fatality happened has been a dangerous spot for years. People are always trying to cross the street there - not wanting to walk down to the cross walk in front of the old theater. Entering from West Avenue into the curve with vehicles parked at the curb, it is a blind spot for pedestrians trying to cross.
