Governor Rell Signed the WiFi Bill

Connecticut is one step closer to creating a statewide WIFI zone. Last week, according to a press release from State Rep Chirs Perone-D Norwalk, Governor Rell signed the bill that enables a “Broadband Coordinating Council.” The purpose of the Council is to monitor and then report to the General Assembly on any matters of technology that they are aware of that require immediate attention. According to the press release, state municipalities will receive broadband internet access, which in theory would allow a way to expand WIFI services to any part a town or city.

How this is all accomplished is in the details. Which I will soon expand upon.

OK Turfgrrl lets take odds on this one. I give you 6 to 1 that the implementation of this bill will be so screwed up that it will be 10 years before it is correctly done. In Norwalk it may never be completed correctly, due to the fact that all the councilmen are too busy fighting with each other, playing one upsmanship, debating the words each other use, and so much other simplistic childish shenanigans, I don’t see how they could ever tackle something this sophisticated as WiFi. They are more like the “2 tin cans with a string between them” mentality. Until the election is over nothing will get done.
