Ben Bycel who has been under fire for things like allegedly sleeping in his office. not having a CT driver’s license and alienating staff has chosen to resign. From the Courant:

Benjamin Bycel, executive director of the newly reorganized Office of State Ethics, said he will remain with the agency no later than Oct. 11.

“I have completed my work in helping to establish the Office of State Ethics. It’s time for another challenge and time for me to return to my home state,” Bycel wrote in a brief resignation letter.
Bycel, who is originally from California, said he would not comment further.

Bycel apologized in June for failing to obtain a Connecticut driver’s license and registration after he moved from Vermont to Hartford about a year and a half ago, The Hartford Courant reported. Because he didn’t register his car, Bycel owes back property taxes, Hartford city officials have said.

Bycel met behind closed doors Thursday with the Citizens’ Ethics Advisory Board of the Office of State Ethics to go over his annual evaluation. According to the evaluation, he needed to improve staff relations and communications, as well as interagency collaboration and communication.

However, the evaluation identified Bycel’s efforts to establish the infrastructure of the new agency as a strength. It also credited him with being fiscally responsible and overseeing the implementation of a new computer network that was “significantly under budget and ahead of schedule.”

Patricia Hendel, the advisory board’s chairman, said the board did not ask Bycel to resign.

    What a review!

“…he needed to improve staff relations and communications, as well as interagency collaboration and communication.”

    And

“…overseeing the implementation of a new computer network…”

It makes me wonder what kind of infrastructure was built. Sounds like an extension of the old Bell System joke, “I’ll start coding. You go find out what the customer wants.”

Hey Greenpeace! I found an empty thread for you to take over! I lobbed in some bait and got no takers. It’s ours! All ours!

So… who’s going to the Colombian festival tomorrow? Can’t wait to hear the cumbias.

I’ll be the one dancing away and surreptitiously scoping out spots for a fishing pier. … and I’ll bet Greenpeace is the guy who pretends to tie his shoe but is really taking a toxic fingerprint.

Ha… not so fast, VP Junkie!

Now that you mention it, this DOES look like a good place for a rant.

    But.. gee.

It’s much too peaceful a day and this topic thread isn’t all that inspiring. Where’s that Greenpeace anyway? Can you imagine a day without him?

    Hmm.. I’m getting worried.

    Greenpeace? Mr. Greenpeace?

    Marco!

Watchdog? You may be on to something…

Anyone know who is participating at the Colombian Festival?

This is all that I have found so far in the spanishtalent website:

EVENTO - EVENT: Quinto Festival de Colombia en Norwalk CT
    FECHA - DATE: 2007-07-15
DESCRIPCION- DESCRIPTION: Fruko y sus Tesos, Luis Felipe Gonzalez y su Orquesta Internacional, Son de Cali, El Comediante Mariconsuelo, Luiggi, Venedance Ensueño Latino, Grupo de Danzas Colombianas en Veterans Park de 11 a 8 de la noche.

Guess that I can find out in an hour. Last year, I did hear some Carlos Vivas tunes. If you want to see what an accordion can do these days, swing on by!

Try some of the Colombiana softdrink!
