Don’t forget that stuff for the troops drive at the Pasttimes Club today between 11-3. Rowayton is hosting their 4th of July fireworks on Sunday and Bayley Beach around 9:15pm. The Apple iPhone was released into the wild yesterday, anyone here using it yet?

Corda may be getting off the hook about having to figure out what to do about the racial imbalance at Kendall and Jefferson schools.

What else is going on?

“What a dump” could really apply to Norwalk lately. There’s litter everywhere — in spite of the “lovely” trash bins all over town. And graffitti is completely out of control. Isn’t anybody looking out for the small things that can make or break quality of life in a town. Didn’t Guiliani strat cleaing up NYC by taking on the guys washing windshields? How about some action on the litters? There’s all this talk about anti-litter task forces but it just keeps getting worse.

That’s “action on the litterers.” Don’t want you to think I’m talking about pet reproduction here…

  • 3 Anonymous // Jun 30, 2007 at 2:46 pm

What action do you want to take. The litters are your fellow citizen. Windshield washers were easy to stop, they wee visable and in one spot. The City can not have police all over town looking for litterers, then Mr. Greenpeace would complain no arrests are being made for violent crimes. Also everyone wants the speeding stopped, so we need patrols on that. I think if you read the papers there may be arrests made on the graffiti soon. But littering depends on a change in culture. I believe the Mayor walked up and down Wall street with fines being given to violators and the Neigborhood Colations have worked very hard at cleaning up neighborhoods. I know there are things wrong in Norwalk, but I never seen a blog so filled with nasty comments about the city we live in.Calling it a dump. The glass is always half empty, if is so bad why are businesses moving in, we have a new magazine; Norwalk Plus, people are buying condos by the water. By the way, do all the negative nebobs out there ensure that when they put their trash out in a hard container or do you use plastic bags which are an invitation to dogs and birds which contribute to the litter. If a person ever read this blog from out of state. They would think tha the town is held in the grip of terror and the streets are never safe, every elected offcial is on the take and corrupt. The streets are filled with trash, There is no culture or activities and everyone is dying to move out.Of course no offical from either party has een accused or charged with anything in recent memeory. We have an active an vibratn town. It is not a dump, and as I have suggested before if it so bad, move, maybe to the Garden spots of Bridgeport, or New Haven. Oh by the way the Scottish Highland games were held at Cranbury Park today, they went through the same procedures as the people running the Jazz festival. Oh, but they must have known someone and paid someone off to to be able to use the grounds. A little satire there, but you know what I am talking about Ken, oh I mean Grants Folly.

#3 thanks for making me smile. I love living in Norwalk. I just had a great falafel and some shawarma. This week we “survived” on great Colombian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Greek, Brasilian, Russian, and Italian food. Topped off by some excellent chocolate! My officemates were jealous. We were too swamped to shop. Didn’t make it to the Games — I don’t have the energy to don the kilt but I did garner enough to visit the cash machine and drop it off with Joanne.

I took a boat up the Norwalk River today. It’s always fascinating. While I am very happy that we’re fixing the grafitti problem, I must admit that I was a bit sad to see the rowing team marks of pride removed from the columns of the Rt 95 bridge. However, I’m real glad that no one is living under the Washington St. drawbridge.

The fam has rested now so my typing will stop. One call to shellfish commish to see if the clambeds are open and out to the islands we go! BTW, thanks to all of you who wave back as we putter out!

that was good, was that your best shot? :)

for your own information we have trash receptacles the iliegals use waiting for jobs on the bridge on MLK highway ,we have culture there is crime activities

A woman attacked going back to the webster lot from downtown Sono last week I thought qualified for a voilent crime..or am I over reacting again..wasn’t my mother, wasn’t my sister wasn’t my wife wasn’t anyone I knew maybe your right skip it,,

Wall st didn’t have to say anything else..

condos by the water accross from the sewage plant have yet to be occupied I guess they will show those at night with high winds to their backs,

I never saw another blog maybe you can start your own I’ll come by and ruin that one too!

Our trash has to go out an hour before the trash guys come the homeless go thru it looking for stuff,n a real mess by morning ,hard container or not.

grip of terror well thats life my friend, but you feel safe don’t you?

its a friggin city act like you live in one. a town or a hamlett with green eggs we aint.

I have no memory of the past we are in the here and now something we teach our kids,,bet you walked 4 miles to school..paid a dime for a soft drink..no thats fair I have older friends here ,,

new magaizine but one of the oldest just folded, sold and left Norwalk a fair trade I guess.

Only the feds say Norwalk and Fairfeild county is on the rise in crime but what do they know about bank robberies?

I hope the next paper you get you read it and not just go on it..

its accounatbility not corruption is being considered
maybe it sounds like a threat when said that way,,its not

a disclaimer I have sent this response to no one I just wanted it to be a rant..maybe stir the pot seems like someone is smoking it again..

I’m for a party just tell us where have one we will come..

Food’s great. Town’s great. Litter sucks. Neighborhood groups work hard to clean up. Good for them. It’s not their fault. And it’s not the businesses either — it’s regular folks dumping their McDonald’s box out the car window and lofting the coke bottle into the median. Has anyone looked at how much litter there is in Heritage Park, for example? So my question is, how come Norwalk looks dirtier than, say, Stamford? Even Bridgport’s downtown isn’t as bad as Norwalk’s Wall Street. How come? What are they doing different?

” I’m real glad that no one is living under the Washington St. drawbridge.”

They must have just moved to under the dock behind the Maritime Center, because last Thursday I saw a very large boat bumper that had floated up on shore near the bridge. When I went down to get it, there were 2 guys in sleeping bags. I expected them, but I guess they did not expect me, because I saw them jump up and start to pick up their clothes. They must have thought I was a policeman.

Greenpeace, thanks again for the rant. I needed a day of peace and tranquility. — and I found it. You help keep us focussed.

  • 9 Mr Greenpeace // Jul 1, 2007 at 1:01 pm

thank you Vet Park Junkie, not for nothing we could of been some of the ones to have waved back,,

I do like Norwalk as well , LLC and Millennium Films came by the other day looking at our city for a film called Righteous Kill De Niro and Pacino are the stars who knows after they took pictures of possible locations and went through the house maybe I can have a party if they shoot some of the scenes here.. they pay for your comfort for 2 or 3 days hire security and rent all your neighbors yards for prop and support trailors..

I could tell by the sounds of it the only outlet they had to the city was the tourism booth at the Mansion,we do have a outlet at city hall for movies don’t we?

Every town and city has outlets, never saw anyting in the papers, and of course I am so lazy I have to ask out here I can’t find the facts on my own, a little research work would kill me..course if it benifits the city I guess i am a synic also,,I love the double standard,,ask me tommorrow about Norwalk I’ll have another take..

Not to long ago they were filming at the aquarium for a Segul movie, that is when we all heard gunshots called the police and we all laughed at the fact so many residents called because we know what gunshots sound like,,here in South Norwalk..sad but funny

Went thru Darien not to long ago cutting thru to shaws the street was loades with portable potties, tractor trailors and prop truck for alomost a 1/4 mile a well kept secret I would say..so if it happens there can it happen here,,

So if talk to another location scout and invite them down to South Norwalk must be I like the city and would like to see some good PR, wonder where the news papers are on this story,,I hope they are reading this blog it would be a great story wouldn’t it with all of our historical points of interest,,might even generate some money for the city..

vet park junkie - NRRA’s rowing graffiti got removed a couple years back. A few kids got too excited with their spray paint, and it started to look trashy, so we cleaned it up. too bad, i know.

where did you get your middle eastern food? falafel inn on westport ave? their food is great.

Re: Mr. Greenpeace’s “I never saw another blog maybe you can start your own I’ll come by and ruin that one too!”

Love ya, Greenpeace. You crack me up!

  • 12 Vet Park Junkie // Jul 1, 2007 at 9:22 pm

    Oarsman,

    ’twas the Falafel Inn!

Wife bugs the man to add lemon and garlic to the hummus. Her taste buds lean more to Lebanon than to Egypt. I prefer the latter.

Nice not to have to schlep to Highland Park, NJ for a good Shawarma.

  • 13 Indiga // Jul 1, 2007 at 9:57 pm

Great place. I could go for a bit more zip in the tabouleh also. But who’s quibbling when you’ve finally got good middle eastern nearby…

  • 14 the blue // Jul 4, 2007 at 10:44 pm
