There’s some interesting news, but I am swamped so you get the tidbits to froth about.
Corda has still ignored resolving the Bruce Morris situation. The BOE is still paying him for a full time position when he is up in Hartford. No other business is run this way. Stuart Opdahl is still mismanaging construction projects and using the Jefferson School construction funds, which were bonded out in 2002, to pay for his “mistakes”. Corda ignored the advice to get construction management reports, and taxpayers pay the price.
Sue Gunn is back at the Museum. But why? After extensive, and I mean extensive, review of meeting minutes and evidence of non performance, I am left wondering why the city wants this to continue as is. Well, more on this later.
CL & P wants to spend nights digging a trench on Westport ave and process water vacuumed from the trench somewhere. They think that empty lot next to Fat Cat Pie is a good place. Why? You have residential and businesses adjacent. I suggest the empty lot next to exit 16. They want to run it from 7pm to 5pm, it’s flat and next to the highway, limiting noise issues.
Matt Miklave and Bill Krummel vote to delay the Reed Putnam Project with calls for another public hearing. Here’s a novel suggestion, 18 months is too long. During the time period, 18 months of dust have swirled around SoNo because of this huge empty lot. 18 months is more than enough time for this to get out of a common council sub-committee.
Clairol is closing its Stamford plant in 2010. Some jobs are going to Cincinnati. The manufacturing jobs are going to Mariscala, Mexico.
As always, use this thread for these or anything else you are interested in talking about.
