These are some photos taken during the walk through by the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism folks in December of 2006. Sorry that the exterior is from such a distance but it does show the commemorative marker for the Revolutionary War battle that took place around Grumman Hill — now the site of the Norwalk Inn. The marker was erected in 1904 by the DAR and moved from Grumman Hill around 1925-26 when the Hill was leveled and sold off for gravel.

Certainly puts the lie to the Inns’ claim that the house is a derelict, doesn’t it? Of course, damage from open and broken windows may have occurred since those photos were taken. By the way, the link on the last photo isn’t working.

I lived in this house from 1997 to 2001 and enjoyed it very much. I had a studio on the second level facing the street. It is a SHAME to see that the latest owners are doing nothing to preserve this house which is filled with beautiful and ORIGINAL architectural detail inside and out. It is too bad there is no photo of the main stairwell. This house just needs TLC. It would make a beautiful bed and breakfast!
