This is the condition of the Grumman St.John House in 2001 when the Inn bought it. While it could certainly have used some cosmetic work, it was nowhere near the condition it is now. Even the Inn’s lack of maintenance over 5 years was not destructive enough and — over the past few months — “someone” has resorted to breaking windows and removing porch columns in an attempt to make it look as bad as possible. I think moving the viewing stand to the Norwalk Inn may have been a ploy by the Inn’s owners to point and say “look how bad this is.” Just conjecture based on my innate suspicious nature…

House Passes Stricter Law Against Child Sex Predators

Ruh-roh “Todd” wherever you are, this law is upping the stakes like a good hand sporting a royal flush might at the poker table. From the Courant:

The state’s version of the so-called Jessica’s law establishes a new crime of aggravated sexual assault of a child under age 13 that carries a mandatory minimum prison term of 25 years for a first offense and 50 years for a second offense.

The bill, which is expected to be signed into law by Gov. M. Jodi Rell, passed the House of Representatives unanimously Saturday afternoon. The Senate endorsed the bill unanimously May 29.

Norwalk: Mayors Race Update

Despite the comments posted, the only candidates who have filed to run as mayor of Norwalk are Dick Moccia as a Republican and Scott Merrill as an Independent party candidate. Other candidates who have officially filed with the Town Clerk’s office include:

Diana Palladino for Common Council in District A
Mike Geake for Common Council at large
Laurel Lindstrom for Common Council in Distirct C
Scott Merril for Sherrif
