This is somewhat of a test poll to see how I like the free service from pollhost.com. I’m pretty sure IP addresses are being tracked by the poll, so poll taker beware.

I have never voted for common council candidates. You should add I don’t vote as an option.

    Morning, Turf…

Just wondering how accurate this poll is before we jump to conclusions. Can someone vote more than once? If it’s an issue of cookies, then can’t cookies simply be disabled or deleted and then vote again?

Hate to be suspect, but they tell ya you just can’t trust stats these days.

Good point, #2. I just voted again, in a different category.

Even without that distorting factor, polls like this are accurate only insofar as reflecting the views of: a) people who use computers; b) people who use computers and browse the internet; c) people who use computers, browse the internet, and care about local/regional politics; d) people who also frequent this site; b) people who also frequent this site and who feel strongly enough to express their views through this poll.

Additionally: my cookies are disabled and I was still able to vote.

Watchdog: The poll is set to allow people to vote once a day. I’ve evaluated it and determined that it uses an IP and cookie to check to see if you’ve voted. THere are always ways to get around that and vote more than once. The more techie savvy would know what I mean.

The poll is totally unscientific meaning, it just measures the responses of the poll takers who decide to take the poll. For example, based on the site aggregate stats it looks like 1 in 20 people is taking the poll right now. I suspect that more people are looking at the poll than taking it, in other words. This is about par for many web sites though.

I don’t have access to the underlying data of the poll, so I can’t tell you much more than that.
