Other things to note around town include the looming problem that gargabge disposal is turning out to be. Apparently political leaders signed a contract in 1985 that turned over a garbage disposal plant over to a private contractor. Seems like a pretty sweet deal. More here.
Then there’s David Park, recently appointed to the Historical Commission, seeking a council seat. Park will be running as a Republican in District C, currently represented by Democrat Fred Bondi and Republican Nick Kydes. At Large Council member Joanne Romano is also from District C. Also serving At Large is Democrat Kevin Poruban, who was appointed to replace Jay Olmstead Sawyer, is from District C and also chairs the Democratic District C committee. Poruban said he plans to run as well. Laurel Lindstrom earlier this year declared she is running for Common Council. According to the Hour article.
Herb Grant thinks his one day Jazz Festival will draw up to 20,000 people. He did not indicate how many tickets have been sold.
Sono restuarants are promoting outdoor dining. New restaurants to the mix this year include Porterhouse and The Bulldog Bar and Grill. With the Gingerman opening, another outdoor patio is operating again. I should note that the Gingerman does not have 700 beers available daily, but they do offer a wide selection worth checking out.
