Funny how someone could hold an educational job without a college degree. Must have been pretty loose educational requirements in 1998. But, luckily someone out there has faxed over an interesting document. Posted below. It turns out that not only did you need a college degree, but you needed a masters degree (or adequate progress towards) to get the Human Relations Specialist position. Uh-oh, someone has some explaining to do. And now that the title has changed to Human Relations Director, that must mean that the position requires someone with some management background right?
From Bruce Morris’ web site:
Currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools liaison to community agencies. Strategizing and implementing human relations training requirements for Norwalk Public School staff, students and local community (i.e., Diversity, Conflict Resolution, Character Education, & MLK, Jr. Day). Also operates as Coordinator for the Norwalk Parent Leadership Training Institute & Volunteers in Norwalk Schools. Maintain responsibility for EEO, Title VII & Title IX Compliance. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to serving as discrimination and sexual harassment hearing officer, community liaison and parent involvement programs.
Will someone from the BOE please pull Mr. Morris’ job application and see just what he put down as his educational experience? And while you’re at it, could you explain what the liability to the City will be over hiring someone so uniquely unqualified for this position? Or maybe this gives Corda an opportunity to eliminate 1/10th of the million you need to cut from the budget.
I don’t think there will be a reasonable explanation for this, but if there is, please send it over here. It’s been over a month and the BOE still has not come up with a policy regarding Morris’ time sheets. We could use some closure on that issue as well.
