Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Don’t worry there will be a thousand pixels more on my observations on the flooding issue, but here’s a link to photos taken the day of the storm (Sunday).

Here are photos I took today (keeping in mind that this is 12 hours after the storm):

I sure hope the water on Lawrence st is not contaminated, the picture with the junk yard in the background is worth a thousand questions.

Stormwater runoff is toxic, hazardous and disgusting. Thank you Mr. Greenpeace for reminding me of that. Parents should not let their children or pets near these flood areas and no child or pet should be outside unprotected during heavy runoff. Animal feces & decay, pesticides, gasoline, oil, antifreeze, & e-coli bacteria to name a few. If you are exposed to stormwater runoff, I suggest you wash quickly and often with hot water and a good antibacterial soap as well. If you are a flood victim and time permits, take appropriate measures to protect the environment from toxic water from your property. If you have fertilizers, gas cans, and pesticides they should be moved to high ground or shelves. I’d hate to see a child get sick or suffer any damage from just frolicking in the puddles.

Did you go out the day of the flooding and take pictures too?

lower mile near Grist Mill had water spewing out of the storm drain and sewer cap by at least 4 inches. The road was like white water rafting.

The homes to the left had PONDS for front yards.

That sewer water was running down the streets.
