Outstanding…best cartoon in months. Thanks Jack!

    Great cartoon Jack.

I want the record to be straight as we head into Tuesday. I will not be supporting raising the educational cap further than the large increase already passed for the BOE. The BOE has not proven their case.

Notwithstanding the tremendous amount of political pressure being exerted to change my vote, I cannot vote for the further increase.

Thank you for this important forum to share information and ideas.

    Best Regards,

    Mike Coffey

Mike Coffey, what do you think the vote will be on Tuesday night?

    FYI

This is a copy of a forward currently circulating from Rob Polley, and perhaps, other BoE members to NPS parents:

    Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brown,
You may not be aware that in addition to my responsibilities as SwimAmerica Director, I am a member of the Norwalk Board of Education.

You are probably aware that the city’s budget process has been much more controversial than usual with regard to the formulation of next year’s school budget.

To summarize briefly, the proposed budget increase will have a devastating impact on Norwalk’s public school system if it is passed; there is one more opportunity to persuade members of the Common Council to act to increase the amount they have recommended for the school system.

The following link will take you to the Norwalk Board of Education “Blog”, where you can read more about this if you’d like.

This next link will take you to the email address and telephone number of the Common Council members. I respectfully ask you to contact them and ask them to raise the amount they have recommended for the Norwalk Public School system. There is no need to contact Miklave, Poruban, Sutton, Briggs, or Krummel on this. They have already expressed their desire to increase the amount to what the schools need maintain all programs at their current levels. Bolden and Hilliard have also been supportive of raising the school budget to what is needed, but only very recently. The others need to be persuaded, and I ask your help in doing so. Time is of the essence; the final vote will be Tuesday night.

    Thank you.

I’d like to know if Mike Lyons will present to the council on Tuesday night. I fear that if enough facts are not present, the grandstanders will win out faced with a reporter the next morning.
