The ethics investigation into Anne Carbone grinds on, and Gordon Tully fires off several emails complaining about the revised ethics code and the executive session that the Carbone investigation is conducting. What’s with his fixation on Carbone?

First there’s this one from 4/24/07:

The previous thread was getting very long, and beginning to move in the direction of a blog. Since I chose my own list of recipients, it really can’t function as a blog. Having sampled the ” yourct.org”, I was disappointed in how quickly things become personal there, plus it is heavily partisan. So I am simply starting up another thread to the same recipients. Please weigh in if you wish to come off the list.

Rell Finally Wants to Overhaul DOT

April 29th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Ah, spring cleaning has finally grabbed the attention of Governor Rell, and Saturday she issued a statement, from the Courant:

Concerned by the expanding list of safety and construction problems associated with a project to improve a busy stretch of I-84 near Waterbury, Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Saturday she is setting in motion a “top-to-bottom” reorganization of the troubled state Department of Transportation.

“The I-84 failure was unfortunately the latest in a series of irregularities and problems at DOT that point to the need for cultural and organizational change,” Rell said in a statement.

Norwalk: Where Is “Todd”? Pagano Porn Investigation Should Ask

April 29th, 2007 · 47 Comments

Monday night, the Common Council’s Ordinance Committee starts an investigation into how the city handled the incident through the summer of 2005. Galen Wells and Alex Knopp, predictably think the investigation is all about them. Ah well, if you think the world revolves around you, I suppose that makes sense.

But the incident was never really about Wells, or Knopp ,but rather what “Todd” did to the boy, and how the city failed to protect its more vulnerable citizens. You see, its pretty reprehensible to be thinking about how, as Wells said to Max Breslow of the Norwalk Advocate, that her family will be embarrassed. Doesn’t Wells think that maybe its the boy who might have been embarrassed?

Today the NFL starts the draft. Chris Dodd participated in a Democratic contender presidential debate on Thursday. The investigation into the fire department’s alleged racism problem implodes with Wilson refusing to reveal the tape, and it rained heavily yesterday, so our Norwalk flood areas must have been inundated. The comments are yours for any topic.

Norwalk: Curator Still Missing

April 28th, 2007 · 135 Comments

At the heart of operating any municipal department, one has to ask, why it would be considered normal practice to staff a public, essentially retail department with only one person? Each time I look at the controversy over at the Norwalk Museum, I wonder just what planet this museum operates on.

Cafero Offers Up Alternate State Budget

April 28th, 2007 · Comments Off

Finally a Norwalk area legilslator is publicly pushing for more Educational funding for Norwalk. Larry Cafero-R, House Minority Leader, presented an alternative budget to the one proposed by Governor Rell and the one proposed by the Democratic leadership.

The part to like, the House GOP plan calls for no tax increases. “We believe the state can meet the needs of its citizens within existing revenues. It is irresponsible to further burden taxpayers without ever examining ways to meet their needs without raising taxes,” said Cafero to the Hartford Courant.

When Educators Lie About Academic Credentials …

April 26th, 2007 · 10 Comments

When educators lie about academic credentials they resign. But we wouldn’t know what was on Morris’ resume except that he handed out copies during his campaign for State Rep last year. And on it he claimed a College Degree, which he now does not claim. But the issue of what he told the BOE in 1999 is very important. And something that Sal Corda still has not addressed. Will someone form the BOE please release the job application of Bruce Morris? Or has the proverbial dog eaten the homework?

From the NY TImes:

Norwalk: BOE Burning Issues

April 25th, 2007 · 84 Comments

Sal Corda apparently is under fire from more than the “blogs”. Although he alluded to the criticism from comments in this comment from The Hour:

During the meeting, Corda criticized recent postings in “local blogs,” and said comments posted “can be hurtful to individuals and can hurt reputations.”

“I have seen blogs in which people are saying, “I heard that,” and the next person gets on the blog and believes that to be fact because it’s written,” Corda said. “There’s a feeding frenzy going on.”
