The newspapers recently reported that after announcing the selection of Leonard Mecca as the new principal of Norwalk High School, the Board of Ed was searching for a principal for Brien McMahon High School. Corda must have a job search matrix program that says, step 1: Contact SETI to begin search.

Bruce Morris An Embarrassment in Hartford

This could have been a post about the debate in Hartford over whether Plan B should be distributed through Catholic hospitals via legislation. In short, I think this is one of those slippery slope arguments about whether the Government can dictate a medical procedure, let alone a medical procedure that is against a religion’s dogma. Careful, serious debate is warranted. But, according to CGG (caffeinated geek girl) over at Connecticut Local Politics, that’s not quite what happened.

Most of the opposition didn’t fare as well. My favorite was Senator De Luca. He doesn’t serve on the committee, hadn’t read the bill, hadn’t listened in on any of the hearing, and was completely ignorant of what Plan B even was. Yet for some reason he felt compelled to speak. For 28 minutes we were treated to De Luca’s testimony. And I know I’m not the only who, at 10:30 PM when the hearing finally ended, appreciated that Senator DeLuca had taken up so much of everyone’s valuable time.

Zone Gas Pricing Dies in Committee

Getting rid of zone gas pricing has been in the works for quite a while. Despite broad consumer support, the legislation banning the practice died in committee, notably featuring only one legislator who resides in a district most affected by the practice. Today’s Norwalk Advocate explains:

A bill that would ban gasoline zone pricing, an oil company practice that hikes prices at stations such as those in lower Fairfield County, died in a legislative committee yesterday.

Norwalk: Common Council MTG

I decided to use the Norwalk Common Council Meeting of 03/12/07 as test of live blogging, sort of. Following the BET meeting the other night, I realized that in taking hand written notes, I still had to craft the post. That took a wee bit of time, so I figured that nothing much was happening at the Common Council meeting so it would be a good test.
