The producers of ABC’s popular show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, are looking for a Connecticut home owner to feature as part of their 50 state strategey. The show is visiting each of the 50 states during the course of the next two seasons. The gist of the show is that over the course of a 7 day period, a lucky homeowner gets picked for the extreme home makeover challenge. From the Middletown Press:
Veronica Penn-Turner, the show’s family casting producer, said the show is gearing up for its voyage to Connecticut as part of the show’s mission and reach out to Connecticut by seeking heroic candidates.“The families should be able to demonstrate community involvement by doing positive things within their community,” said Penn-Turner. “It could be anyone - anyone who is a real inspiration to their community.”
“We are in search of real heroes, people that have amazing strengths and who have put their own needs aside to help someone else,” said casting director Quintin Strack.“This makeover will be the answer to their prayers and the solutions to their problems.”
In addition, Strack said ideal candidates’ homes should demonstrate “a dire need of help.”
“We don’t want to tear down a nice looking house,” she said. “We want to see houses that look like they might fall down on their own.”
To be eligible, potential candidates should be owners of a single-family home and have to submit a short description about what’s wrong with their house, and why they are deserving of the make over, plus how it will transform their life. They must also list every family member living in the house. All these details, and the usual contact info should be sent to Veronica Penn at castingconn@yahoo.com
