I know I'm late to this but.... LMAO!!!!!!!!! Switch to NY EZ Pass. The only thing that changes is the state and certain rules of the state. NY and NJ outsourced the day to day operations of EZ Pass to the same company. The toll collection program that you all hate was developed for use in NY state first. You're running to the same people, just a different office.

Listen, I grew up in Rowayton. I went to the nursery school at the Church there, I went to Rowayton Elementary School, and I was putting Rowayton, CT on my envelopes until I entered the middle school. I didn't know (and nor was I told) that I was ACTUALLY a resident of Norwalk until that time, and my younger sister still ignores it. Yes, it's elitist, and yes, it's ridiculous. But unless you're too nerdy for the prep crowd (like I was), you never separate from your fellow Rowaytonites who share your delusions until you go to college, at which point it's simply too late. If the someone grew up in Rowayton, I'd bet my bottom dollar they believe it.

Comment on Democrats Say Get Rid of the DMV by Coolhan_luke

Restructuring
of the DMV would be simple and inexpensive.

The DMV
claims without the DMV fraud would cause much headache...not true because the
transactions would still be controlled -- besides that the fraud that exists
would cost a fraction of 1 percent of running the current DMV.

I believe,
in California, we could do 99 percent of DMV tasks online, registration of new
and used vehicles purchased (documents could be mailed to a single office in
Sacramento...if someone commits fraud we know where the return address
is...duh), renewal of vehicles (that's easy--online). We already do renewals online…

Vehicle checks: Out of state/off the record
VIN number vehicle verifications could be done at the local CHP office (we
would only need to hire a few extra CHP officers, and as an added benefit those
officers would be available in a time of emergency).

Written
tests: Could be done at third party testing centers and the Sacramento office
would collect a transaction fee to run the main/only office in Sacramento,
also, driving tests could be done third party/CHP...Again, we do this already
with traffic school and driving school.

The bottom
line is: We could lay off 99 percent of DMV employees and save 100s of millions
a year, get rid of all the offices (accept 1 office in Sacramento) and save
millions a year, stop paying for power and maintenance services and save
millions a year...the state would save 200-300 million per year and make money
VIA transactions fees and use the extra money to pay CHP salaries. We could go
from a money pit to a positive cash flow and in the meantime we would have
happier customers!

A GPS tracking device on a car is a search and requires a warrant, but a team of cops tracking a suspect's every public move is not ? What this decision has outlawed is the use of a labor saving device that can save thousands until some judge agrees there is probable cause to justify keeping track of a suspect's movements Obviously, the need for the use of such tools was not well argued in this case. What did they have to say about Onstar, or observation from an aircraft ?
With GPS, one technician, at a desk, can keep track of numerous vehicles. Without GPS, keeping track of one vehicle can occupy six officers and six unmarked cars.
