Ever wonder where Norwalk ranks in terms of the average listing price of homes? Coldwell banker to the rescue– they released a report which places Norwalk in the top 10 priciest real estate markets in Connecticut. WTF, you say? Isn’t the prevailing assumption by our esteemed political flunkies that we are in danger of being overwhelmed by affordable housing?
Well, the numbers don’t lie. So if you are thinking that it’s pretty unaffordable to live in Norwalk, you can now point to why. Those hefty property assessments will continue to stay a prevailing high, because of what is selling, that is homes that are worth the other side of half a million. And what that means is that policy wise, until lower priced housing options hit the market, the forecast is for paying more in property taxes because of those high values. No matter that your 900 square foot cape-codder hasn’t been updated since 1973, and the only granite you see is at the curb.
