How Do Liberals & Conservatives View French Fries?

Who knew that there was a difference over french fry preference between people who identify themselves politically as liberal or conservative? And not just on french fries, (conservatives prefer McDonald’s Fries ) but on beer, what to drink for dinner and what’s exotically ethnic.

Behold the whole chart of differences:

Jackie, This is great.  We’re having a picnic on Saturday and I’ll have to print this for a great conversation starter between my (very liberal) family and husbands (very conservative) kin.  Wait, did I say conversation starter?  More like fuel for the fire!

As long as marshmallows are involved, it’s okay.

    Jackie,

This article made my day!  I really had a great laugh.  I love my french fries no matter what kind.  They just don’t like me anymore because they go straight to increasing my scale weight and making my jeans tight.   I do love them whether they are bistro or Mc Ds.

Thanks for bringing humor to the political climate these days.

There certainly seems many in Norwalk politics devoid of humor. I betcha they don’t like beer either.

Does this dichotomy between liberals and conservatives explain why we don’t have snacks at Board of Education meetings?

    • Anonymous

You need snacks at the meetings!?

    • Nora

I think we should have snacks Steve.  We should start serving popcorn at the Common Council meetings.  Popcorn encourages discussion.   Nora

I suspect this is a complete narrative fallacy.  This is a perfect example of something Freakonomics shoudl look at – i.e. is the true link between political persuasion and food choice or between geographic location, education, etc. and food choice.  Were the “liberals” who responded all in metropolitan area and the “conservatives” in the heartland.  I suspect that these other variables were not held constant in this analysis.  I would like to see the regression analysis with all the demographic factors of the population used in this experiment.

Was this too serious a response?

80 million respondents (the hunch.com fine print) would suggest that there’s a decent sampling size in this.
