Pope Says Governments Should Guarantee Access To Health Care
The GOP has been staunchly against health care reform. They have called plans for universal health care, communist. Pope Benedict XVI, said that health care was one of the inalienable rights of man. and all nations “have a moral responsibility to guarantee access to health care for all of their citizens regardless of social and economic status or their ability to pay.”
Ruh-roh Christian right, you have a problem. Your apostle Glen Beck had this to say earlier:
“We have a right to health care, really? God doesn’t give health care. Man provides health care. So how can it be a right. If you are endowed by your Creator with certain unalienable rights, how can a God-given right be health care, unless Jesus comes down and starts to open up a clinic and heal us himself? There cannot be a right to health care, because the rights come to God.”
Pope Benedict also said there’s a risk that, “pharmacological, medical and surgical consumerism leads to a cult of the body.”
Ah yes, taking on the pharma industry with God should be an interesting discussion point this week for Roman Cathlolics.
