Blumenthal Story Is Fizzling, NY Times Looking Bad

The latest in the story about the story is this, Linda McMahon’s campaign is taking a bow, the whole video of the Norwalk event Blumenthal spoke at has him saying for the record he was a Marine Reserve and didn’t server in Vietnam, and the political reporters in Connecticut, according to Colin McEnroe, haven’t dug up anything that portrays Blumenthal as stating he was anything else but a Marine Reserve.

The biggest loser in this is likely Rob Simmons. It’s all McMahon and Blumenthal in the news, and his campaign is now buried under the media storm leading up to the crucial delegate influencing needed at the Republican State Convention. In fact, I’m pretty much going to call this as McMahon adds such a significant amount of delegates now, that his campaign is pretty much toast.

So dirty – candidates like McMahon cannot get elected on their own merits, so they immediately resort to publishing and selling lies. No respect.

    • Barnstorm

Is that what she means about “trying something new”? Seems like the good ol’ republican SOP to me.

  • Secondhand Rose

Yes, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Too bad, because up to now McMahon was looking pretty good. The backlash from this is probably going to sink her chances.

  • Call me, blink blink

If there are any true journalists anywhere out there, with integrity and a little backbone, The New York Times is going to take a significant hit on this. And should rightly so. As far as McMahon?
Hey Vince, be carefull of where you dance baby, ya just might dance yourself right into the pen. (reference the Tuesday release on youtube of Vince doing a victory strut.) Keep in mind all the graphic nasty footage of his lil niche market have been pulled off the web. 16 million burned, 20 million to go. Hey Vince, I have a video you may be interested in. Call me, we will talk business. Richard, hang in there guy. We the voters that are awake and paying attention know and honestly, the cards have been now clearly layed out on the table. I read a piece by some poster that asked the question -
“Who do we vote for to be our legislative representaive in Congres, a guy that has been in law his entire carreer of more than 3 decades, the last decade enforcing law especially for the consumer/citizen, a guy that has a very impressive record and has taken on huge special interests entities, sucessfully, a guy who knows law, a highly educated guy that has walked the walk, or, do we cast our vote for the side show entertainer with plenty of cash to flash”? Hmmmm?

  • Hold the Mayo, Please.

What is interesting is the story behind the story.
McMahon admits feeding The Times but the Times is denying it.
Interesting isn’t it? Usually its the other way around. Well used to be like that in the good old days of real reporting.
Ok, so this Hernandaze smuck at the Times takes the little brown lunch bag and runs with it, ok. But it has to get by the editors, right? Wow, someone has alot of splsining to do. Now back to the story that is nothing more than manafactured, high budget c rated campaign propaganda. Some hot shot hungry reporter somewhere must be tracking down where the video came from. Of course that would be real reporting but some, like McEnroe @ the Courant got their teeth well into this. So, to the real story behind the fabracated one – we have a room full of republicans when the video was tapped. The substance of the clip is actually laughable if it wasn’t such an in your face nasty manuver. Names have been published, so not stepping on anyones toes here. So who was at that event and who had copies? Well Shays was in attendance, who by the way just endorsed another particpant Fedele, (last week) and than we have Cafero and Moccia and of course the partys flunkie Scabilia. Its interesting to note that Moccia did come out and endosre McMahon just a copuple weeks back. Also of interests is Shays stepping out of the shawdows and endosred Fedele just last week. What a cast of characters. Did Moccia have the time and er, energy? Unlikely. Scabilia does remind one of that dastardly demon driver of cartoon history however just like the cartoon character its unlikely the light is bright enough there either for such an eloborate plan. That leaves us with Shays and Fedele. Hmmmm. Shay’s does a Libermam and flips on his own party? Pay back time? Well the timing of his endorsement does raise an eyebrow even if no one had a clue Shays was elected and removed as a democrat. So Shays is a possibility. Now that leaves us with Fedele. Our soon to be former Lt Gov, who does what, no one has been able to figure out excatly? Fedele who arose out of a culture of accepted influences. Fedele? Oh yeah, he is suspect number 1. He wants that power so bad, what would he do to get it? Safe bet his fingers are in there somewhere. Fedele has been seen, with Linda McMahon, at several recent events.
Apparently the bottom line here is somebody, well a its looking like a line of folks drew a line and stated “show me the money!!!” And apparently some folks did see the money. Has politics always been this nasty, corrupt and outright dirty? What can really be done to remove money and its corrupting influences from elected office?

  • Secondhand Rose

Who’s this “Scabilia” guy, and what has he got to do with anything?

    • BLARNEY

Come on Rose, you got to be kidding. You have been on this political blog this long and you don’t know who he is.

Go stand in the corner and take a time out…..SHAME

  • Secondhand Rose

Sorry to annoy you, Blarney, but I have absolutely no idea who this Scabilia person might possibly be. I’ve never heard of anybody named Scabilia involved in local politics within my lifetime.

If you think you know who Hold The Mayo is referring to, then might I suggest you translate his gibberish?

    • BLARNEY

It might be, Art Scialabba Chairman,Norwalk Republican Town Committee .

“HOLD THE MAYO PLEASE” (The man with a 1000 names) in his quest to be clever may have been referring to him.

Hey “Mayo” don’t quit your day job to become another Jon Stewart type comedian.

  • Secondhand Rose

Well “Scialabba” should be pronounced just like it’s written, either “SHA-LA-BA” or “SKA-LA-BA” (depending on how well a person can get their Yankee mouths around an Italian name.)

But it’s a doggone stretch to think that his name is spelled/pronounced “SKA-BILLY-A” now ain’t it?

Gave me a great laugh, though. *wink*

  • BLARNEY

    SHA-LA-BA” or “SKA-LA-BA” SKA-BILLY-A

    Ain’t that a 50′s DO WOP SONG?

  • J.P.

Think that there is some very interesting points being made on this issue. It’s no secret how, shall we say, unprofessional things are in governmental admisistration. How can we take back control of our government from corporate interests? Just a few weeks back our U.S. Supreme Justices wrote in a split call, ” Corporations have the same liberty’s as a citizen when it comes to lobbying and speech.
Somewhere we are missing something. We cant lock up ceo’s of the most unethical corporations and yet the corporations are allowed to dodge trillions in taxes with loopholes large enough to swallow a continent. Corporations than can complete the circle by channeling some of the enomous profits back to influence peddeling to make laws to make more money. A closer in depth review of the rise of the W.W.E. now renamed W.W.F. can reveal some interesting obeservations about our system. Some may think they have discovered some magical code that can do anything, con-vince anywone. You guys really want to bring up Nam? How about Korea? Iraq? How many sons and daughters of America have sacrificed over this ideal, this just out of reach illusion that everyone has an equal shot? There is a very good reason why the schools are doing so poorly. If we had an educated society here, things would be very different, yes indeed. However an educated society is more difficult to control. Once the mind opens its diffcult to close. As its said, “pandora” is released. Just reading blogs and commentarys just on this non issue, with Blumenthal, alone. Well talk about case in point. Why are people so easily manipulated? What happened to that pillar of democracy we wrote in our constitution something about freedom of press, freedom of speech? How one person, one entity can manipulate masses is something we really need to examine closely. Its a long term crack in our nations foundation we need to address. It is why things are so tilted and will get worse if we choose to ignore this core flaw in our government. Letting big money, for profit, corporations run this country and control and manipulate the population is surely a recipe for, well look where we are today. We have censorship edging onto the web frontier, we watch as our rights evaporate and more and more, big brother knows all and controls all. No there is no story on Blumenthal accept that he is a straight up gentleman with something called ethics. The story, the big story is what is happening in jouranlisim or to the point directly, what is not happening in journalsim. Can democracy survive no less blossom without an independent press?

    • Secondhand Rose

      Uhh….what?

  • Barnstorm

Art Scialabbaramalamadingdong is Norwalk’s answer to Karl Rove. Moccia reports to him. He tells Moccia what to do and how to do it. No tactic is too smarmy, no attack is too strong. He wants to call the shots, stir the drink, and be out of range of any culpability should the fecal matter hit the fan. If you’re a republican in this town, you won’t go anywhere until you cozy down and pucker up to this guy’s back side. He keeps getting re-elected, so they must enjoy the process.

  • jillcooks

The Blumenthal story does NOT make McMahon look better but it sure as hell makes him look worse. His response to this story was at best shabby, self serving and pitiful. It is not about her it is about him, his own people said, ‘he doesnt ALWAYS lie’…so when is the truth being told by him?

  • Secondhand Rose

Oh come on, you can’t tell me you actually believe this stuff? I’m incredulous!

  • http://Yahoo Just Me

Barnstorm, you’re out of your mind. Scialabba – and all the other republicans in town – dance to MOCCIA’S tune, not the other way around. Moccia made Scialabba what he is. And trust me, I’m in a position to know. Personally – and again, as someone in a position to know – I wouldn’t trust either one of them as far as I could spit.

    • Barnstorm

I don’t know how gullible you think I am Just but there’s no way on earth everyone dances to Moccia’s tune. If they do, we’re all in really deep..uh, ethics violations. Moccia simply isn’t that smart. It was Scialabba that got Moccia where he is. Art was running the republican joint before Moccia, and apparently he’ll be firmly in charge long afterward too.I agree that neither one is trustworthy, but that’s hardly the point here.

      • BLARNEY THE TRUTHFUL

Barnstorm, truthfully,if we would throw any politician Democratic or Republican, Local, State, or National that was not truly trustworthy and worried about us more than themselves, we would have a Congress with about 2 Senators and 10 house members and that goes right down to the local level. Politics is an addiction and usually like any addiction it can destroy even the good eventually.
