Will Schools Open Wednesday? Answer No

UPDATE:

From the Norwalk Public Schools website:

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 schools will be closed for Students and Teachers.

All Office, Support Staff and Principals should report at regular time.

Mayor Richard Moccia and DPW Director Hal Alvord have been assessing the school building situation all day. They report that all Norwalk schools have power and that there is access to all schools. The decision to open will be up to interim superintendent Michael Nast. Alvord plans on briefing Nast later this afternoon. The Mayor reports that access to the schools and safety in getting to the schools is a primary concern. The difficulty in making a decision centers on the fact that the district has already used up all of the allocated snow days alloted for the year and should the schools remain closed additional days would extend the school calendar beyond projections. The Mayor suggests that perhaps there will be a delayed opening.

  • Schools open? Really.

We currently have trees falling and transformers exploding all over town.
Hey Moccia, you wont send out dpw but your gonna let the kids out on these streets? Somebody gets hurt, will come back to bite you hard.

Oh, stuff a sock in it, would you?

If you actually bothered to read the statement, you would know that the Mayor was turning over the decision of when to open schools to the Superintendent.

Westport had a tree fall on a fire truck, so they called back their emergency workers because it was too dangerous.

Actually, I don’t know why I am even bothering to reply to your post.
