It is a good thing there are “old guys” around to know where the drains are and what needs to be done to free them up. We used to have much worse storms around here and people were left to their own resources to get rid of the water and debris. Not so now – everyone is so quick to come down on the DPW or the Mayor, etc. when they aren’t catered to immediately. I happen to know this “old guy” very well and know he still goes to work every day and maintains his own home and doesn’t ask anything from anyone. “Older Gentleman” would have been much more tactful and far less insulting.

nwlknative: There was nothing insulting meant by “old guy.” Certainly he may in fact be a gentleman, but you’ll rarely if ever see me use that term here, simply because that’s not the lingo I use. Unless sarcastically, when referring to a group of lawyers, but then that’s for another post.
