Free Dental Clinic Saturday

from a press release:

REP. PERONE URGES RESIDENTS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE DENTAL CARE TOMORROW

Norwalk residents who lack dental insurance are being urged by State Representative Chris Perone (D-Norwalk) to attend a free one-day dental clinic in Middletown tomorrow, March 13th.

“This clinic is a once-a-year chance for people who lack insurance or who have inadequate coverage to get dental care for free,” said Representative Perone. “Almost everyone without dental coverage puts off getting treatment until it’s too late. This is an opportunity to receive quality care at no cost. I urge everyone to take advantage.”

CT MOM is a full-service clinic providing free dental care on a first-come, first-served basis for both children and adults. More than 1,400 volunteers—dentists, oral surgeons, hygienists, dental assistants, and others—will provide dental screenings, cleanings, fillings, x-rays, oral surgery, root canals, extractions, and replacement teeth.

Perone added, “I am grateful for all the volunteers and groups who are making tomorrow possible.”

The dental clinics will be held on Saturday, March 13th at the Aetna Building on Industrial Park Road in Middletown. The clinic will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Mission of Mercy a national program is operated in Connecticut by the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach in collaboration with the Connecticut State Dental Association. This is the third year that they have held clinics in Connecticut.

Apparently, by 8:30 this morning the clinic, which opened at 8, was turning away patients. Chris is going to have a lot of ticked off constituents unless he clarifies his message. He would do better to try to bring free dental care to Fairfield County.

I wonder if anyone must prove (or can you prove) you don’t have dental insurance? My insurance does not pay for anything associated with crowns and I need one. $1050. If we all got in line, whoa! what a mess.

So who is the clinic actually for? I’d think it is for people with no access to dental care who can not afford any and have the medical need.
But that is not what is ‘advertised’.

I heard someone came from Ohio, so I guess if you can stand in a line, they should be able to see you.
