Your Mother May Have Been Right …
Remember when your mother said, don’t run with scissors? Or it’s always fun until someone pokes their eye out. Or if your friends jumped off a cliff would you? All those sayings at one time must have been based in fact. Sort of like incidents like this one. Reported from the Advocate:
A 23-year-old Stamford man allegedly stabbed another man in the leg with pruning shears early Thursday during a drunken altercation outside a West Side restaurant, police said.
Jose Garcia-Orellana, 23, of 17 Vassar Ave., Stamford, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree breach of peace. Officers arrested him around 1 a.m. early Thursday when they responded to Hugo’s Restaurant at 161 Stillwater Ave. and found a group of men holding down Garcia-Orellana in the rear parking lot, said police Sgt. Chris Weed.
Officers found a set of pruning shears next to Garcia-Orellana.
Police said Garcia-Orellana had been thrown out from the restaurant earlier that night, but returned later and wielded a pair of pruning shears and challenged bystanders to fight him.
Of course running, may or may not have been involved. And pruning shears are like heavy duty scissors. But like Ralphie’s mom, “you’ll poke your eye out” or getting your tongue frozen onto a metal pole, bad things can happen. Just don’t go go challenging pruning shear wielding drunks or people who triple dog dare you.
