It’s kind of freaky when you’re drivign down the highway and your tire begins to disintegrate as your driving, too. Especially freaky watching pieces of your tire flying up in the rearview mirror and then seeing them coming down in front of you. A situation I’d rather not experience again, that’s for sure.

We ended up with parts of a retread on our front lawn and I thoughtless attempted (operative word here…attempted) to pick one of the pieces up with my bare hand. Bad move. It was a steel belted radial, or what was left of one. I now keep gardening gloves in the trunk of my car and will never again attempt to remove part of a tire without gloves on. Even so, I would use a piece of paperboard or cardboard as extra protection.
