Woman Charged With Leaving Boy Home Alone
hrrm, Home Alone… er, I digress. The boy showed up at a neighbors house, well let’s just go the Courant report:
police say she left her 9-year-old son home alone while she went to work and he showed up at a neighbor’s with gasoline spilled on himself.
Thirty-one-year-old Laura Behlman of Naugatuck was charged Thursday with risk of injury to a minor, a felony that carries up to 10 years in prison upon conviction. She was released on a promise to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Friday.
Police say that after Behlman went to work, her son played with gasoline and spilled some on himself. Police say the boy woke up a neighbor at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday.
Of course you have to wonder what gasoline was doing inside the home. And then why at 6:45 in the morning the nine year old would be handling it. You could also wonder about what job required that the mother be out the door before 6:45 a.m. and where the job was located. But that would take us away from the sad fact that these days this movie could never have been made:
