Who’s Afraid of a Fillibuster?

When was the lats time there was a fillibuster executed in the Senate? In 2005 Foxnews reported that it was 1992, with then Senator Alfonse D’Amato talking for 15 hours and 14 minutes.

Since then nada, that is in the form of a true filibuster.

For the President to announce that nothing will happen in the Senate until Scott Brown is seated, is a sign that Democrats just don’t know how to lead. Bill Clinton had it right, it’s better to be strong and wrong, then right and weak.

Vote on the health care bill. It may in fact not get enough votes. Who cares? It is a sucky piece of legislation anyways. But at least put the effort into actually voting on something instead of this endless whining about cloture and filibusters.

Just vote.

    So everyone knows that it would seriously hurt if you did get shot right there but your not exactly going to have a serious chance of getting killed so it’s much more sensible to have a bullet proof vest rather than pants, plus you may have to put something pretty heavy there so it might way you down a bit :P

    I think the Massachusetts debacle has the Democratic leadership in such disarray that they are completely unnerved

    The loss of the traditionally liberal Democratic seat to the Republicans (a Conservative one no less) was to the Dem’s not just a shot across their bow, it was a Krakatoa and a Mt Washington both hitting them right in the face at the same time .

    The had better prepare for the Tsunami that is sure to follow.

    The are so shock and awed that they are blaming Bush for a Republicans win.

    The pickup truck didn’t cost him any votes, that’s for sure. I doubt any labor union members missed the fact that it’s a union made GM unit either.

    A lawyer driving a 15 – 20 year old pickup truck got him at least point or two; most lawyers seem to be attracted to big-buck-iron, 7 series BMW’s and so forth.
    However, many of us also know a “regular guy” that’s an attorney who forgoes the usual (and in some geographic areas almost required) stuffed shirt.

    The Yankee fan remark had to cost her a point or two if for no other reason the shear ignorance and stupidity of it.

    In case you don’t know this was the place that started such underwhelming people as Al Fraken & Rachel Maddow of MSNBC.

    Speaking of MSNBC, they can’t be far behind Air America, because they are in a panic right now trying to paddle like mad just to keep their nose above the water. I understand that Keith Olbermann of MSNBC has just ordered a snorkel, dive mask and fins.
