Continuing Saga of Mothers With Children
Apparently, ranking right up there with Mark McGuire finally officially admitting steroid use during his 1998 home run chase*, is yet another Mother-Child-Car incident. At least hitting the patrol car kinda of takes the societal dilemma out of the equation on should it have been reported. From the Courant:
An East Hartford woman is due in court next month on charges she was driving drunk with her toddler in the car when she struck a police car.
Dawn Marie Bixby, 29, of Turtlecreek Lane was charged with driving under the influence, risk of injury to a minor, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also is charged with driving without insurance and making an improper left turn.
Bixby’s blood alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit, police said.
The collision happened about 8:14 p.m. on Dec. 31, according to a police press release from Monday. Police said they found a small amount of marijuana, some drug paraphernalia and an open beer can in her car. No one was injured.
Her child is 2 1/2, said Sgt. Joel White.
Bixby’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 9 in Superior Court in Manchester, according to state judicial branch records.
*And on that Mark McGuire note; really CNN, a braking news text alert? CNN has lost it’s ability to figure out what ia relevant breaking news.
