Milestones And Millstones

Today marks an anniversary of sorts. Three years ago I dusted off the guide to Connecticut and turned into this blog, the almost daily rant and rave of what’s on my mind. Over the years, the Connecticut guide stuff faded away and the local sausage making of government here in Norwalk gained more ground. The very first post here, three years ago, was on health care. Just as timely as it is now. Read it here.

Today also marks the first day of the last month of 2009. Hard to believe that another year has flown. Soon every media outlet in the universe will be doing the recap stories as vacations are taken, and news grinds down to the essentials. Here in Connecticut though, with proposed budget cuts to municipalities there are lots of stories to cover as the financial meltdown of the state seeps into the every day stuff like keeping libraries open, picking up trash and keeping streets paved and plowed. The Courant has a good story on that today, the local papers are still hunting for news.

So today I’ll leave you with a musical guest. But first what do Julie Andrews, Freddie Mercury and Annie Lennox had in common? Here’s one in a tribute to the other.

thanks for the blog, its the only accurate way to stay on top of local “dishes”
That being said, I have tried that “donate” button many times, only to be rebuffed…in an electronic way…how about an address. BTW just tried it again and was told to try later…this can’t be helping the cause!

Congratulations on turning 3! It’s been a sometimes fun, sometimes frustrating, but never dull run so far (matches your personality, in other words.). Keep up the good work.
