Each year I coordinate "Stockings From Santa for Our Troops" and each year Norwalk comes out in a big way. This year was no different. On Wednesday night Dec. 2nd with the help of the ROTC from Norwalk High (thanks kids) The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 12, The Marine Corps League Semper Fidelis,The Ladies from Son's of Italy, my good friend Gladys Didia and her husband John as well Carol and Jerry Frank, members of the Norwalk RTC we were able to pack up close to 800lbs of goodies to send to our service men and women in time for Christmas and Hnukkah so our men and women will have a taste of home for the holidays. With the generosity of Fran DiMeglio and Northrop Grumman we saw our packages on their way in time for Christmas. They sealed, addressed and shipped our packages at their facility and generously paid for the shipping, allowing us to buy Christmas decorations, candy, cards and other holiday related goodies with the monetary donations we recieved! On behalf of myself and all others who donated their time and goodies, I thank you and our soldiers thank each and every one of you. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. Anyone who still wants to donate can do so up til Wed. Dec.2nd at the American Legion between the hours of 12 and 3pm... Or- if you are going to the Legion Christmas Tree Lighting tomorrow night at 5pm you can bring it with you . The drop off place is the same, to the left of the building downstairs. Some groups are stuffing small stockings and we will include them in the shipments however, we would gladly accept empty stockings so that we can fill them with the donations. Does that make sense?
