Serasis Starts Raising Money For Mayoral Run

Making it quasi official, Steve Serasis had filed the paperwork to start making his run for Mayor. This enables him to raise money. My only question is will he break into the five figures mark. From a practical standpoint, it’s hard to raise money for municipal elections during the summer. That’s why most serious candidates start at the beginning of the year. Really politically ambitious candidates start the day after the last election.

Part of the challenge for Serasis will be overcoming the Democratic Mayoral-wannabee candidates, whether they’ve announced or not. This one day I’m going to be a contender status will mean that fundraising help will be few and donor lists hard to tap.

So far Sersis has not distinguished himself as a leader on the Council. The voice of the Democratic council has been Bill Krummel, who has also announced he is running for mayor, yet he hasn’t filed the official fund raising paperwork yet. How that dynamic will play out will be interesting. Krummel wasn’t too happy when the 2007 DTC endorsed Walter Briggs over him. A replay of that scenario would be something to watch.

Bill Krummel has dedicated many years serving Norwalk, I think he truley cares for Norwalk and it’s residents. I hope the dems support him and I as a republican will vote for Mr.Krummel.

  • Just Say No!

Bill Krummel for Mayor? Please spare us all!

Mr. Serasis has not yet served one full term on the council. Is he not aware of the problem with his over-zealous attempt at the mayoral slot early in the game? What are his specific qualifications that allow him to disregard the need for a respectable history of experience? Is he also aware that he will be thrust into a fishbowl and must be accountable for himself at every level?

  • HUH?

Serasis dedicated most of his political capital for his own Afterschool Alliance and for taking credit for the achievements of the member groups– yep, that’s true leadership. [Note to Steve: Please don't waste our time recounting your group's "accomplishments", instead think about updating your website so that it actually provides useful information, although the 2006 list of events is critical for those few with functioning time machines].
As for Mr. Krummel, say what you will about his political leanings, you have to give the gentleman credit for his years of faithful service to the city.

  • a faithful dem

just heard mary roman is running for town clerk does anyone know if that’s true?

Huh – many, many people do that sort of thing in this community. That is hardly what it takes to be a leader who has acquired the experience needed to work with others with diverse backgrounds with all of the special needs groups that make up a city of this size. Mr. Serasis has yet to influence the business sector with his vision for Norwalk. I am always leery of a young buck – young meaning inexperienced – quick to grab the reins. As it is, right now, we need someone who is able to work with others without the attitude. At least Mr. Krummel has the experience to make himself worthy of consideration.

#5, you might want to check your source – Mary Roman recently retired from the City of Norwalk; I doubt that she’s running for anything these days except the Senior Olympics.

Well, if SHR said it, it must be true… (eye roll)

  • Secondhand Rose

‘Bout time you bowed to the inevitable. LMAO!

  • justMe

But Bill Krummel is 80 yrs old! Will be 81 yrs before the election. He needs to retire from politics & let newer people in!

  • I bow to nobody

As usual, Secondhand Hosebeast thinks this is about its ownself. Massive Fail!

  • For clarification and readability more than anything else,

you should at least come up with a more inventive title for yourownself.

  • How about FOAD?

    That suit you, FCARMTAE?

  • Renaisance Faire Pirate

A Rose by any other name can only be SHR as poster #13. So true, #12.

  • I thought Warhol said 15 minutes of fame . . .

The Serasis announcement generated a wopping 2 hrs. of interest on this board before we all lost interest and starting talking about Mary Ronan. It’s gotta suck for him when potential neophyte candidates for the BOE generate more buzz on this board than this incumbent common councilor’s delusions of grandeur mayoral run.

Sorry, #16, but Serasis should see the writing on the wall if he’s truly a concerned Norwalk Democrat. Apparently he isn’t taken too seriously outside of those people who might support him at work. He should be a big boy and get behind a stronger candidate to help his party’s campaign.

  • Secondhand Rose

Uh….Sorry to disappoint you #15, but no, I was not poster #13.

By the way, I’ve never heard of a “renaisance”. However, there was once something called the “Renaissance”.

Hey Rose, 15′s got a screen name – what more do you want? In a name, there’s no such thing as correct spelling. God forbid, there’s a typo here. For Pete’s sake, stop quibbling about every little thing! You trying out for a popularity contest?

  • Secondhand Rose

Hey anonymous, you got a bug up your butt or something? Go find someone else to harass.

Yes, Mary Roman will be the candidate for Town Clerk.

  • Piqued Livid, But Not Really Livid in this "Venue"

Can we please move on from the back and forth nonsense? We are adults. At least I presume we are. These are anonymous posts. You don’t even know each other personally. Enough already.

Let’s move on to something or someone(s) more interesting. Mary Roman? Andy Garfunkel?
If this is more than rumor or wishful thinking, then I say NOW the race is getting interesting! Yes?

  • So what do you think?

Is Serasis just an egomaniac? Is he a stalking horse for someone on the DTC?
He can’t be serious, can he? Or does he think that he is such a threat that the Dem powers will offer him a job to get him to withdraw from the race?
